Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE CHARLES W. WALKER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN POCKET-COME CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,310, dated November 14, 1876; application filed October 11, 1876.
To all lwhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. WALKER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pocket-Comb Cases, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to provide a convenient combination of a case for a pocketcomb and a mirror.
My invention is illustrated in the drawings hereto belonging, and in which similar letters represent similar parts, A being a mirror With beveled edges, B being the case on the back thereof', into which a comb may be inserted 'for retention when not in use, and C being the comb. Figure 1 is a front view, showing the mirror and its frame. Fig. 2 is a rear view, shoW- ing the case for a comb. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view.
The manner of constructing and using my said invention may readily be understood; but in order to prevent the possibility of misconception I will more -i'ully describe the parts.
The mirror7 Which is made of plate-glass, is
about one inch Wide and vabout four inches to prevent cutting the pocket.
long, that being the most convenient size for ordinary use, and the edges of the glass are beveled at about an angle of forty-five degrees The frame of the glass is made of leather, morocco, cloth, india rubber, or other suitable material, and is turned over the edges of the glass, so as to securely bind it. The comb-case is made of similar material," and is firmly fastened to the mirror-frame, so that the whole, when combined, forms asingle article. Of course, the precise dimensions as herein specified are not essential.
I am aware ot' the fact that mirrors of various kinds are combined With toilet and dressing cases and many other articles, and I am aware that pocket-combs have been carried in cases; but I do not know or believe that any single article of this kind has been made before my invention.
What I claim as my invention is- A pocket-comb ease provided with a mirror, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
GHAS. W. WALKER.
