Description

v c. a. uocx'.
COMBINED SHADE A ND REFLECTOR. No.183,412.
Patented/Opt. 17, 1876.
ATTb /VEZ UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CALEB B. MOGK, OF K-ENTLAND, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT I-N COMBINED si-lAoE AND REFLECTOR.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. 183,4l2, dated October 17, 187 6; application filed April 8, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, G. B. MOGK, of Kentland, in the county of Newton and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Shades and Reflectors, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in a reflector placed in a hoop, with a movable hood or apron on the top coming down over the front, so as to control the direction of the rays of light, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which Figure l is a side elevation of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section.
A represents a cylindrical hook of any'suitable dimensions, having its ends cut inclined, and provided at top and bottom with suitable apertures, to be placed over the chimney of an ordinary lamp. These apertures are made near opposite ends of the hoop, in such a manner that when the hoop is in position a rematerial, such as, for instance, of glass; or
the hoop may be made of paper, the reflector of glass or metal, and the hood of metal and it may be applied to any common coal-oil lamp or gas-burner.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The inclined hoop A, reflector B, and adjustable hood or apron (J, constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CALEB B. MOOK. Witnesses:
