IMPROVEMENT IN BOOTS AND SHOES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 182,554, dated September :26, 1876; application filed June 24, 1876.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HUBERT BRossEL, of the city of Indianapolis, county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented certain new -and useful Improvements in Boots and Shoes.

of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof.

My invention has for its object the cheap and durable manufacture of boots and shoes without the sewed seams ordinarily used in their construction.

This is accomplished by cutting the leather for the uppers from the pattern A, (shown by Fig. 2,) and folding it as shown by the dotted lines b d and c 6, thus bringing the ends a and aftogether at the point marked A, in Fig l, where they are secured by some adhesive substance, or, if desired, by sewing;

but this will usually be found to be unneces sary.

The sides 9 and h, after the upper is folded, as hereinbefore described, show an opening similar to the one marked 41 in Fig. 2. Into these openings elastic web or other suitable the pattern A, constructed in the manner herein shown and described, all as herein set forth.
