My invention relates to improvements in a device for relieving headaches, and it consists in the novel features, which are hereinafter described.

One of the objects of my invention isto provide a device for relieving headaches, which acts by cooling the forehead of a person.

Another object of my invention is to enable one readily to produce the required cooling effect by means of a flexible band to be applied to the forehead.

A further object of my invention is-to have said band supported by a resilient frame, which may be provided with a handle for manipulating the same.

Another object of my invention is to have said device for relieving headaches simple, durable and inexpensive.

Other objects and advantages will hereinafter appear.

I attain these objects by the device, which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, or by any mechanical equivalent or obvious modification of the same.

In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a partly fragmentary view in elevation of my device for relieving headaches, and Fig. 2 is a sectional plan on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

Like numerals refer to like parts throughout the two views:

11 designates a band, made of a porous fabric, which may have its ends connected to each other so as to make said band endless, as shown in Fig. 2.

A frame 12 of resilient material, such as spring wire, is shown in Fig. 1 as having thereon

vertical parts

18 and 14, which are encompassed by said band 11; the resilience of said frame 12 which is initially stressed tends to stretch and tighten said band 11.

Said frame 12 may preferably be made of one integral piece of spring wire, which is shown in Fig. 1 as doubled up and bent to the required shape; the ends 15 of said wire may be secured to a handle 16, which is shown in Fig. 1 as broken away at the lower end thereof.

The middle portion of said frame 12 is shown as curved in Fig. 2, and supplies the necessary resilience, and the

end parts

13 and 14 serve as posts for supporting thereon said band 11.

The handle 16 may be made of wood or any other suitable material, and maybe provided with grooves for receiving therein the said ends 15.

A sleeve or ring 17 may be secured to the upper end of said handle 16 by means of a screw 18, to keep said ends 15 in place on said handle 16.

To use my device for relieving headaches, the'band 11 may be moistened by water or any other suitable liquid, which it will readily absorb; the frame 12 with the band 11 thereon may then be moved rapidly through the air by a person holding said handle 16 and waving said frame 12-131 1 briskly through the air a few times; this motion will produce a headwind on said band 11, which will evaporate part of the moisture thereon, whereby said band 11 will be cooled.

The band 11 may then be applied to the forehead of a person sufiering from a headache, who will be relieved by the cooling effect of the band.

The said frame 12 and handle 16 may be employed for applying said band 11 to the forehead of a person as well as for waving the band through the air.

In this way a very convenient, effective and inexpensive device is produced for relieving headaches.

Many changes may be made in my device for relieving headaches, without departing from the main scope of my invention, and parts of my invention may be used without other parts.

I do not, therefore, restrict myself to the details as shown in the drawings, but I intend to include also all mechanical equivalents and obvious modifications of the same within the scope of my invention.

I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. In a device for relieving headaches an endless flexible band of a porous fabric, to be moistened by a liquid and cooled by moving the band through the air, whereby it may become cooler than the human body, and a resilient frame, for movably supporting and stretching said band in an extended condition thereof, said frame having thereon parts, to be encompassed by said band, and serve as post-s for the same, thereby movably supporting and stretching the same, whereby said band may be so moved through the air, thereby cooling the same, and thereupon applied to the head of a person.

2. In a device for relieving headaches an endless flexible band of a porous fabric, to be moistened by a liquid and cooled by moving the band through the air, whereby it may become cooler than the human body, and a resilient Wire frame for movably supporting, and stretching said band in an extended condition thereof, said frame being made of integral piece of Wire, whereby said band may he so moved through the air,

thereby cooling the same, and thereupon applied to the head of a person.

3. In a device: for relieving headaches an endless flexible band of a porous fabric, to-

be moistened by a: liquid and cooled by moving the band through the air, whereby it may become cooler than the human body, a resilient wire frame, for'movab'ly supporting. and stretching said bandan extended condition thereof, and a handle on said frame, integral therewith, for manipulating said frame with said band thereon, whereby said band may besomovedthrough the air, thereby cooling the same, and thereupon applied to the head of a person.
