The hair being. thus secured it is only necessaryl for, the wearer to grasp the end portions 2 of the band 1 so as to straighten it out and rotate it, whereby to Wind the engaged strands of hair thereon and create a roll or puff, which latter is indicated by the numeral 5 in Fig. l of the drawings.

After the roll or puff has been formed, the end portions 2 of the band l are released and the band is placed comfortably about the back of the head wherey it is self-retentive owing to its resiliency. The hair constituting the roll or puff thus formed is easily adjusted by the wearer so as to neatly conceal the entire device, as the end .portions 2 thereof are readily concealed under the hair adjacent to the ends of the roll or puff.

The invention, therefore, is not limited to the specific construction, arrangement and application of the device shown in the accompanying drawings.

, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. The herein described hair dressing device comprising an inherently resilient split clamping band and a longitudinally extending elastic strap element detachably secured cooperatively on the outer face of said band and being constantly under tension and normally in yieldable Contact throughout with said band when applied. The herein describedjhair dressing dev1ce comprising an inherently resilient splitclamping band having tapered end portions, a longitudinally extending elastic strap element, and means comprising snap fastener elements for detachably securing said elastic strap element at its end portions and also intermediate its ends' and under constant tension in cooperative relation to the outer face of said clamping band. i

The herein described hair dressing device comprising a normally conformed, resilient, split clamping band capable of being opened to a straightened condition, and a cooperating, longitudinally extending, elasstrap, said band being constantly stretched under tension and in yieldable contact throughout with said circumferential face in either the normally conformed or the opened condition of the device.
