UNITED STATES PATENT CFEIGE.
`FRED STERZING, OF AUSTIN, TEXAS,
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY TRUMPETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent'No. 182,085, dated September 12, 1876; application filed Y June 24, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED STERZING, of Austin, in the county of Travis and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Trumpets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, referencebeing had to the accom panyin g drawings, which form apart of this specification.
This invention consists in the combination of a toy trumpet, having a sounding device, With a revolving disk, operated by the breath, by which the music is sounded, having suitable figures arranged on its surface, in such a e manner that they will revolve when the trumpetis being blown. p
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a top plan, the rotating disk and covering-plate being removed; and Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate correy 'sponding parts in both the figures.
A is the trumpet, which may be of any suitable size and configuration. a, is themouthpiece, and b is the sounding apparatus. c is a deflector or shield, arranged within the funnel, so as to throw the air against the paddles of the wind-Wheel B, that is pivoted in the center of the cylindrical box C. The axle of the Windwheel B extends up through the covering-plate C ot' box C, and is secured to the disk D, which will, therefore, be revolved When the Wind-wheel B is rotated by the air passing through the funnel from the mouthpiece a. The sounding apparatus b may be placed either in front or to the rear ofthe windwheel B. Upon the surface ot' the revolving disk D may be arranged any suitable figures or devices, such as soldiers, horsemen,
cattle, vari-colored flags or bitsof paper, or
any similar devices.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- In combination with a toy trumpet, A, having the deector c and sounding apparatus b, arranged either in front of or behind the detlector c, the paddle-box C and rotating Windwheel B, the latter having a rotating disk, D, secured thereto, upon which are affixed devices or figures, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore specified.
In testimonyithat I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto attixed my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
