Be it known that I, GEORGE H. KING, a resident of Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination-Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full'7 clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to an improvement in combination-toys, and more particularly to a toy for blowing soap-bubbles, the object of the invention being to provide a toy which will resemble a cannon and the soap-bubbles blown therefrom resemble cannon-balls.

A further object is to provide a toy which will comprise a whistle, a soap-bubble blower, and a toy cannon.

A further object is to so construct a toy that in general appearance will resemble a cannon and one that will be neat in appearance, easy to operate, and most pleasing and entertaining'to children.

lVith these objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construe;

parts, as will be'more fully hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of my improved toy. Fig. 2 is a View in section 0f same, and Figs. 8 and 4 are views of details.

1 represents a tube provided with a flaring or conical end 2, as is usual in the old blunderbuss form of gun. The other end ofthe tube 1 is provided with a blow pipe or tube 3, having a iiat upper face and smaller in diameter than the tube 1 and of sufficient length to extend outward from the tube 1 to form a mouthpiece, as shown, and extending in said tube to a point in proximity to the paddle or wind wheel l7, which will be more fully hereinafter described. A slot or opening 4 is provided in the tube 1 near its end, which opening or slot forms a whistle when air is blown into the tube 1 above the tube 3, and when it is desired to blow soap-bubbles or revolve the wind-wheel the operator blows through the tube 3, and hence avoids sounding the whistle.

Upwardly-extending parallel ears 12 12 are provided on the tube 1 at or near its center and are provided with holes, as shown, for the reception of a shaft 6, on each end of which is secured a wheel 10, preferably resembling a cannon-wheel. A wind-wheel or paddle-wheel 7 is secured on the shaft 6 between the ears 12 and is of sufiicient diameter to extend through an opening or slot 11 in the tube and permit the paddles of said wheel to lie in ythe path of the air forced through the tube, and hence revolve same and the wheels secured to the shaft at a rapid rate when the operator blows through the tube, the wheels l0 acting as fly-wheels and serving by their momentum to augment the rotation of the shaft to which they are attached.

My improved paddle or wind wheel 7 is composed, preferably, of a single piece of metal circular in form and slit, as shown at a, the respective sections between the slits twisted, as shown in Fig. 3, to form paddles against which the air forced through the tube comes in contact and turns the wheel.

-A handle 8 is provided on the under face of the tube 1, as shown, to facilitate the hold ing of the toy when it is desired to blow soapbubbles therethrough, sound the whistle, or revolve the wheels.

An eye 9 may be secured to the tube 1 near the whistle end thereof, to which a string maybe secured when itis desired to drag same along the floor.v

When the toy -is dragged along the floor, it is placed upside down and the wheels 10 revolve, hence revolving the axle 6 and windwheel 7.

Various slight changes' might be resorted to in the general form andV arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope thereof, and hence I would have it understood that I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of my invention.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secureby Letters Patent, isv 1. A toy comprising a tube adapted at one IOO end for blowing soap-bubbles and having a whistle at its other end, said tube having a slot between its ends, a shaft mounted on said tube over the slot therein, a wind-wheel secured to said shaft and projecting into the tube through the slot therein and wheels secured to the ends of said shaft and serving by their momentum to augment the rotation of the shaft, substantially as set forth.

2. A toy comprising a tube having a fiaring end, a whistle in the other end of said tube and an air-tube in the whistle end of said first-mentioned tube whereby to blow through said tube without sounding the Whistle, an ear secured on each sideof said first-mentioned tube, a shaft mounted in said ears, a wheel secured to each end of said shaft, a
