IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED CRIB AND TABLE.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l S 1,292, dated August '22,21876; application iiled July 28, 1876.

Be it known that I, M. C. URQUHART, of

4South Bend, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and nseful Improvements in Combined G rib and Table, of which the following is a specification:

rIhe nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a combined crib and table, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. n

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention apperta'ins to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexedl drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view. A Arepresent two uprights held in position by means of rails B B at or near the bottom, and these uprights support an oscillating platform, G, one side of which is finished as a tabletop, and the other side is provided with folding sides D D, and folding ends E E, to form a childs crib. rIhe platform C 'hash longitudinally-slotted bar, G, attached to each end and 'standing at right angles with the table-top. These slotted bars are supported by studs or pins a, a, projecting` from the inside of theupright A A. The tops of the Auprights are nished to correspond with the side of the platform C, which constitutes the table top, and they form the ends of the table.

When it is desired to use the article as a Ifable, the side of the platform C, which is so finished, is turned upward and dropped between the uprights until it. becomes flush with them, Where it isheld firmly, the ends of the platform resting upon o'sets on the uprights,

and a slight enlargement, b, of the edge of each upright fitting in corresponding recesses on the platform, the whole upper surface .presenting the uniform appearance -of a tabletop. y

When it is desired to use the article as a childs crib, the platform is raised slightly and swung around between the uprights, and lowered down until the ends of the slots .in the slotted bars, G G rest on the studs a in the uprights. The platform now becomes a swing, being supported by the slotted bars G hanging on the studs or pins a, and by turning up the folding sides D and ends E, and securing them in an upright position by means of hooks d, or other suitable means, a crib is formed for a childs bed.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by ing platform U, the uprights A A, adapted to form the ends of a table-top, as described.

4 The combination of the reversible platform C, upright supports A A, slotted bars G G, and studs or pins a a, all constructed substantially as and for the purposes vdescribed.
