IMPROVEMENT IN FASTENINGS FOR SHOES, GLOVES, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l S l .187, dated August 15, 1876; application filed April 6, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. LASCELL, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Fastenings for Shoes, Gloves, and Clothing, of which the following is a specification I make use of a metallic link, connected removably at one end to one part of the shoe or garment, and having at the other end a stud that passes through any eccentric slot in a'plate that is fastened to the other part of the garment, so that the fastening is drawn up or tightened by moving the pin in ,the cocentric slot. This fastening'is very strong, and can be made highly ornamental, either in metal, rubber, horn, or other material.
In the drawing, Figure l is an elevation of the fastening. Fig. 2 is an edge View.
The link a is connected at one end to the part b of the shoe or garment, and at the other end is a pin, 0, that passes into the eccentric slot .61 in the platee, which is extended as a tongue, f, that is secured to the opposite part h of the shoe or garment. The pin 0 is formed with a head that can easily be grasped, so as to move the pin in the eccentric slot cl, to tighten the fastening and draw theparts of the shoe together.

so that the link can be lifted off the stud I When the shoe is to be opened.
The end of the link a. may be made with a hook passing into an eyelet in the part I) of the shoe or garment, instead of being attached to the part I) of the shoe or garment, and pro-v vided with the stud c at the other end, in combination with the plate 6, having a connecting-tongue, f, extending out from one side and containing an eccentric slot, d, for the stud c, substantially as set forth.
