Description

J. M. HOLSTEIN F-UR SCARF' HANGER Feb. 3; 1931.
Filed April 14. 1930 Patented Feb. 3, 19 31 JACOB M. nons'rnm, or newnnx, new annsny FUR-SCAR]? nausea Application 'filed April 14,
' This invention relates in general to a device for displaying fur scarfs and the like, and more particularly the invention is directed toward a hanger from whicha scarf can be suspended for display purposes.
One object of the. invention is to provide a device of this character embodying novel and improved features of construction whereby a fur scarf may be suspended with the head upward or with the head downward V as may be desired.
Another object is to provide a fur scarf hanger havin novel and improved means to removably receive the clasp orthe like usually associated with the head of a fur scarf, the
hanger including a part for suspending the device from a horizontal support, so as to support the scarf with the head uppermost.
Other objects are to provide such a device having a novel and improved construction for receiving the rear paws of a fur scarf whereby the scarf may be suspended head downward; to provide a fur scarf hanger wh1ch shall be simple and inexpensive in construction and easy to use, and to obtam other advantages and results as will be brought out by the following description.
Referrin to the accompanying drawing in which corresponding and like parts are designated by the same reference characters throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a fur scarf hanger embodying my invention showing the manner of suspending a fur scarf therefrom a with the head uppermost.
Figure 6 is a sectional view on the line 6-6 of Figure 8.
Specifically describing the illustrated embodiment of the invention the hanger includes a body 1 which may be formed of any suitable material, for example, leather, fibre or the to the tail orbody portion.

The enlargedpaw portion cannot te pmnaimmugh the enlarged' end 5 of the slot, so tha't when the 2'5 hanger is suspended bythe hook- 2 from raii'or the like, thefunsc arf'jhangsfie ii w'a'rdly from" the bodyl with the-termite tion lowermost. The constricted pe itioned of th Slots prevent;thelegperaons frombecoming accidentally-detached during handling of the hanger with a scarf attached Obviously the fore paws of the scarf might be arranged in the slots 3 in the same manner to support thescarf with'the head uppermost, if desired.-
For supporting a fur scarf with the head portion uppermost, the body 1 is'provided with a pair of parallel slots 6 in which are slidable a pair of loops 7, said slots being vertically exposed when the body 1 is suspended by the hook 2. These loops 7 are adapted to receive between theincand the body 1, one jaw piece 8 of the clasp D or the like usually associated with the head 95 portion of a fur scarf tosimulate the jaws and to connect the head end of the scarf The loops 7 are adjustable relatively to each other in the slots 6 to accommodate claspsof different sizes, this adjustability of the loops being generally illustrated by dot and dash lines in Figures 3 and 4 of the drawings.
In inserting the jaw-piece 8 of a clasp in the loops, preferably the operating end 9 of the jaw is first slippedthrough the loop 7 'which is lowermost when the hanger is suspended, after which the other loop 7 is adjusted in the slots and slipped over the clamping end 10of the jaw-piece 8a; This' results in the attachment of a fur scarf, for example, as indicated by dot and dash line E in Figure 1 of the drawing, so thatwhen the hanger is suspended'from ahorizontal' support, the scarf hangs downwardly with the head portion uppermost.-
Where the body 1 is made of flexible material such as leather, it is necessary to re- :enforce the lower portion of the. body to support the paws, and for this purpose I may secure to the rear side of the body, as by rivets 12,: a strip 13 of metal or the like.
Obviously the details of construction of the device may be widely modified and changed by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention; furthermore, a plurality of pairs of slots Band 3 may be provided in a single bodyso that a plurality of scarfs can be w suspended from the same hanger. There- Y fore I do not desire to be understood as lime iting myselfin the construction of the device except as required by the following claim when construed in the light of the prior art.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is: I
A fur scarf hanger comprising a body formed with a pair of parallel slots and having suspending-means at one end, and a pair of loops slidable in said slots to receive and hold a' clasp of a fur scarf between them and said body, said loops being adjustable to accommodate clasps of different sizes.
