PATENT) o- F f LEE W. HOVEY, or onrcAeo, ILLINOIS BULLETIN unann- Application filed January 25, 1928. Serial No.. 249,311.
This invention relates to a frame, and more particularly to a bulletin frame, and the ob-,
ject of this invention is to provide such a frame which is adapted to be'readilydisasf sembled for the purpose of inserting bulle which may be positioned therebetween. and between which the bulletins are normally positioned. 7
My invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a bulletin frame incorporating my invention.
Figure 2 is an end elevational view of that shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the bottom channel member comprising aportion of the frame.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the cha11.
nel member shown on the right side of Figure 1.
For the purpose of illustration, I have 7 shown the preferred form of my invention in the drawings, and which comprises a pluralityvof channel members 5 consisting of a bottom portion 6, side portions 7, and extensions 8 on the side portions.
' As best shown in Figure '3 the extensions 8 are concave on the outside thereby pressing a convex inner surface in engagement with the sheets of glass or similar material 9, and urging against the same for holding them in place. The members 5 are preferably made of sheet material pressed or died into form, and therefore possess the desired amount of flexibility for constantly exerting a sufiicient I spring pressure on the glass plates 9, as heretoforestated. Betweenthe sheets of glass is positioned a cushioningfelt' or similar material 10,011 which the. bulletins 11 and 12 are positioned. It will be apparent that it s not necessary to use thumb'tacks or any other securing means for holding thebulletins 1n place, since theyare pressed on to the surface of the felt by means of the pressure exerted upon the glass plates by'the eaten sions 8.
extremity offwh'ich is" formed into an 'arc'of a circle assh'oWn at 14; Adjacent'tlie oppo site end of the-channel members is provided a strap 15 died integral with" the bottom portion 6 a'nd'being of sufficient sizeto receive the extremity 14 of an adjacent channel member therethrough, as'shownin the assembled illustration inFigure 1.
Two of the'channeled members are of a slightlydilferent construction than the others on oneend thereof for the purposeof adapting the same to receive a locking means. This difference consists of an extension 16 on the right hand end of the bottom member 7 I which is provided with an opening 17, adapted" to receive the strap 18 which is died in the same manner as the strap. 15, but is formed longitudinally of the body portion instead of transversely. The members 13 .and 16 extend at right angles to the bottom portion 6 for the purpose of engaging the bottom portions of the adjacent members which in this frame form a rectangle, however, it is within the scope of this invention to arrange said portions 16 and 13 at any other desired angle, for accommodating other shapes of frames. A padlock 18 may be used to secure the portions16 and 18 together as shown in Figure 1, and when it isdesired to disassemble the frame, it is only necessary to remove the pad lock, lower the bottom member into the posi tionshown in dotted outline, and the other members may then be removed by withdrawing each member with its strap 15 oifof the curved portion 14 of the extensions 13, as
shown, and for assembling the frame, the
reverse operation is followed, suitable ears 19 are secured to the top member by means of rivets 20 for supporting the frame on suitable hangers as may be desired.
Having described my invention in its pre-- ferred form of construction, it will be apparent to those skilled inthe artthat it is capable of variations wi hout departingfrom the spirit of the invention, and I do not Wish 7 to be limited to the exact details herein illustrated and described, but desire to-avail my self of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims;
I claim as my'1nvent1on':- V 1. A frame coinprlslng a plurality of opposed metallic channel' members; said mem bers consistingof a-b'ott-om portion-and side portions;e: tensions ont-he side portions of said channel members engaging sheets of glass positioned therebetween; means pro jecting from thebottom portion on each end of said channel members for detachably securing saidmembers together; one of said securing means adapted to receive locking means therethrough for locking the entire frame as a unit.
2. A frame comprising a plurality of op posed metallic channelmembers; said memhers consisting of side and bottom portions; means integrally formed with the respective bottom portions adjacent the ends thereof and arranged to interlock and detachably secure the members fromldisassembly; extensions onthe side portions-of said channel members having a convex inner surface yieldingly urging against sheet memberspositioned therebetween for holding said sheet members centrally in said channels; and cushioning means between said sheet members arranged to secure display cards in position.
In testimony whereof I have signedmy name to this specification.
LEE W. HOVEY.
