The attaching plate 10 may be provided with two screws only, if desired, in which instance said screw holes would be located at the center of the upper and lower ends of said attaching plate.

Although spring clamping members having jaws with plain engaging faces may serve to support the article suspended from the fixture I may in some instances provide the jaws with engaging faces in the form of suitably attached pieces 17 4:) of leather or other material that will present a better gripping surface, or when plain gripping jaws are employed they may be slightly curved transversely as shown at 18 in Fig. 5 to correspond approximately with the curvature of the stick handle so as to increase the area of engagement between the jaws and stick-handle, and of course other modifications may be resorted to within the scope of my invention and claims. It will be further understood that although I have shown and described my improved supporting device or fixture as shaped adapted for the purpose of supporting a broom in suspended position it may be used also for other household articles which are provided with a stick handle, as for instance a brush, mop, etc.

In using my improved form of supporting fixture it is attached to a wall, partition, or other supportagainst which the broom or other household article is to be kept, and

in placing the article in engagement with thesupport it is only necessary to insert the end of the stick-handle into the casing 11 from the lower end thereof so that said handle will be engaged between the jaws 14E of the spring clamping members 12 and suspended therefrom with the straws forming the head of the broom or the bristles of a brush out of contact with the floor, it being well known that when a broom is supported in contact with the floor it tends to break or otherwise port, a casing attached to said wall plate and open at its upper and lower ends, and clamping members in the form of spring steel plates attached at their lower ends to the side walls of the casing and curved inwardly and upwardly therefrom, the upper ends of said spring members providing jaws between which the stick-handle of the broom is engaged and gripped for suspending the broom from the supporting device.

A broom holder comprising a wall plate for attaching the device to a wall or other support, a casing attached to said wall plate and open at its upper and lower ends, and clamping members in the form of spring steel plates attached at their lower ends to the side walls of the casing and curved inwardly and upwardly therefrom, said plates terminating in jaws curved transversely towards each other to correspond approximately with the curvature of the stick-handleengaged and gripped thereby.

4. A broom handle comprisinga wall plate for attaching the device to a wall or other support, a U-shaped casing attached to said wall plate and bulged outwardly at the lower end of the front thereof to increase the entrance opening into the casing, and spring plates attached to the lower ends of theside walls of the casing from which they extend inwardly and upwardly terminating in clamping jaws between which the stick-handle of the broom is gripped.-
