TROUSERS` HANGER i Nov. 4, 1930.
Filed ot. 1e, 192s Patentedv Nov. 4, 1930 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE l KARL FRANQSICS, OF BUDAPEST, HUNGARY TROUSERS HANGER Application led October 1G, 1928, Serial No. 312,889, and in Hungary August 2, 1928.
This invention relates to a device which isl adapted for suspending trousers and .is of tlie-bifurcated 'stretching members may be moved simultaneously parallel to one another under spring action.
The guiding devices ensure in addition to a. constant maintenance of the parallel position of the bifurcated stretching members a simultaneous movement of the latter and moreover the dead weight of the suspended trousers effects the vsimultaneous spreading apart of the bifurcated members or increases the stretching and ensures the spreading of the bifurcated members together with the elastic elements such as helical springs or rubber bands connecting the rods of the guiding devices.
Other objects as well as the nature', characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more readily apparent from the following description taken in connection withv the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming a part of this specication. Y
constructional form of the invention 1s shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device e inthe outer limit position of the rods of the guiding devices corresponding to the greatest distance between the bifurcated stretching members,
Figure 2 is a side elevation corresponding to Figure 1 of the device in the inner limit position of the stretching members when brought close together, h g
Figure 3 is a side elevational detail illustrating .the positive connection of the upper rods of the guiding devices on an enlarged scale, and
lFigure 4 is a similar view of another constructional form of the positive connection between the lower rods of the guiding devices;
Similar characters of referenceare em- 'ployed in all of the above described views to indicate corresponding parts.
Referring now, l'more particularly to the accompanying drawings, there is provided a pair of forks or bifurcated members 1 adapted to be inserted Ain the lower ends of the legs of a pair of trousers, each of said forks or members having two legs 2 and 2b. A central suspending rod is now provided and is fitted at its upper end with a suspending hook 4. This central rod 4 forms a part of two guiding devices each inthe form of parallel rods 5 and 6 pivoted thereto at one side thereof and also pivoted to. legs-on one of the forks or bifurcated members l. Other rods 7 and 8 are similarlypivoted to the other side of the central rod 3 and to the legs of the other fork 1. The pivots for the guiding device including the rods 5 and 6 are designated by the numerals 10, 11, 12 and 13 while the pivots for the other guiding device are designated by the numerals 14, 15, 16 and 17.. Suitable means is provided for effecting resilieit control of the guiding devices in the form .of coil springs 9 and 10a, the hooked ends of which are engaged in the holes A18 and 19 and 2O and 21. These springs 9, 1021 have the tendency to-maintain the parallel rods on the opposite sides of the central rod 3 in the outer limit position according to Figure 1. This limit position according to Figures. 1 2 is ensured by the lower part 3El of the U-shaped bent central suspending rod 3, against which part 3a the lower rods 6, 8 abut in their fully extended position (Figure 1) while according to the constructional form in -Figure 4 the outer limit position of the device is ensured by the relatively abutting lower corners 6b 8b of the inner ends of the rods 6, 8.
The, stretching forks or bifurcated members lare bent out of one piece, that is, one single piece of hoop iron with legs 2a 2".' The ,Aleg portions `2 2bare iattened in the sec# tion between the rods 7 and 8, that is, in the central part and united by means Vof the tongues 22 pressed out of the leg portion 2l. and extending through the holes 23 of the leg portionQP.'
The two leg portions of the suspending rod 3 are also held together in the iattened central part by a tongue 22 extending through the adjacent hole 23.
In order to'maintaln the positive connec- I tionbetween the rods of the guiding devices,
the inner ends of the rods 5, 7' are provided with intermeshing teeth 5 7a (Figure 3) within .the leg portions of the suspending rod 3. The center of the segment 5a coincides with the pivot 11l and the center of the segment 't'a with'the pivot 14. According to Figure 4, the intermeshing segments 6, 8a are formed only at the upper part of the inner ends of the lower rods 6, 8 while the lower Vcorners 6b, 8b abut each other in the outer limit positions of the guiding rods.
The positive connection between the'rods of the guiding devices ensures the stretching members being always -on the same level and the lower ends of the trousers legs being always uniformly spread out.
` In order to increase the preservation of the trousers material, the toothed or uted part of the .bifurcated members l of the trousers hanger may be covered with rubber or' fabric.
It is to be noted that the 'legs of the forks in reality form part of the guiding devices and in this connection it is also to be noted that Aguiding devices constitute movable frames each in the shape ofi;J parallelogram,
these being positively connected together to .t will be readily apparent.
ensure of simultaneous parallel movement of the stretching forks when the hanger is in use.
ing devices'carrying the stretching. members and ensuring of the simultaneous movement thereof, .said guidin' iting of the-outer movementof the rods when the trousers hanger is'in a fully extended positi'o. i
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature. v n, KARL FRANCSICS.
It is believed in view ofthe foregoing dei scription that a further detailed description is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention Having thus fully descrlbed the invention what is,` claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is A 1. A trousers'fhanger, including a pair of stretching members adapted to be inserted in the lower ends of the legs of va pair of trousers, two guiding devices carrying the stretching members for ensuring of the simultaneously parallel movement thereof, each guiding device being in the form of a pivoted double rod parallelogram and of which each stretching member forms a part,
and segments formed on the adjacent ends of the rods of each parallelogram and'inter meshing with each other s o as to positively unite the guiding devicestogether.
2. A trousers hanger including a pair of stretchingmembers adapted to be insertedin the lower ends of a pair of trousers, two gulddevices including a Y central supporting ro pairs of parallel rods .pivoted vthereto and 'to the stretchingmem-
