i l' Application iledhlt'ovenibcre This invention relatesto pop guns and has as oneofits primary objectsto provide afdevice of this character vdistinguished by its simplicity 1 of construction and VVoperation 5 which notonly rendersjtlie device'moreeconomical to "manufacture'V but I provides afv design of a strong and durablenature and oneYV of parts are reducedltofa in which the number minimum. A Y' require the presencelof a cork or other suitable stopper Within the forward end of the barrel to produce thek desired noise. The
l function attributed to .Athes'topper` is merely 15 to', cooperatefvvith the usual` yrecipro'cable plunger to form an air chamber so that when the plunger is caused tomove forwardto- Ward the stopper the air vvithin'thechamber -iscompressed and operates to discharge the vstopper from the barrel.v While this ar- 4 rangement is satisfactory for, producing the desired report, itihas been Viiound to be 'obj ec- 1 tionable not only due to theinconvenience experienced inthe necessity of placin'gthe stopper Within the barreleach time thegun is v operated, but,alsoovvingto the fact thatthe stopper frequently becomes lost.
Itis thereforeA one Orth@Y objeta of hier invention; to provide a gun of the above character which Will produce a'report or audible noisevvithout'discharging a Aprojectile from `the barrel of the gun thereby eliminating the necessity of the usual cork stopper with the #accompanying inefficiency. tliereo'ff'and pro- 35 conducive of advantages not possible vvith the above described type opop gun.
The severalobjects, advantages and novel Vdetails of construction of this invention will proceeds,especially When considered in con'-V Vi v.n'ecvtion Vwith the accompanying drzwvings fWherein: f v, f f Fi'gure 1 is an elevational fvievv of apo'p 115 vention;

with a series of circumferentially spaced elongate-d slots 31, the edges of which. being turned inwardly as at 32 for positioning the member 24 within the barrel and to preverit a relative movement thereof. The inwardly extending portions 32 also function as a guide for the gasket 27 so that the latter will accurately engage its seat and properly seal the opening 25.. Y i n .Assumingv that the gun has. been` cocked and the partsare in the position illustrated in Figure 2, the trigger 19 is swung repars wardly releasing the hook 17 from the projection 18 of the trigger whereupon the plunger 12 is moved forwardly by the spring 13 compressing the air within the barrel until thev enlarged portion Y16l of vthe rod Vpasses through the opening 25 and unseats the gasket 27 againstthe tensionofthe spring 28 whereuponl the compressed air is instantaneously `released from the barreljadjacent-to the 'slots 31 giving the desired pop noise.
From the foregoing, it will bere'adily-y apparent that the present invention notionly provides a structure which may operate with facility but one in -whichthe cost of vmanufacture is reduced to 'aminimum,
What I claim as myinvention is: y 1.- In -a gun of the class described, a barrel having a krestricted opening therein, V'a -member permanently arranged within the forward end of the barrel forrsealing said opening, a plunger' reciprocably -inounted within said barrel and cooperating with` the member aforesaid tol form an air chamber,-
