Description

Sept. 23, 1930. J. M. SCHMEICH-EL SUSPENDERS 'Filed sept. 4. 1929 am. fich epchez INVEN OR ATTORNEY Patented Sept. 23, 1930 UNITED STATES JULI S-M. SCHMEIGHEL, or PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA SUSPENDERS Application filed September 4, 1929. Serial No. 390,307.
My present invention has reference to what I will term a pair of concealed suspenders inasmuch as the same are worn beneath the shirt of the user and are attached 5 to the front buttons of the trousers by clamping the shirt thereto before the shirt is buttoned up its'fron t, and the objects of the invention are the provision of a pair of suspenders of a construction whereby the same may be easily, quickly and effectively adjusted, suspenders that will effectively brace the shoulders and the bones of the arm blades of the wearer to cause him. to
walk in an upright position but at the same 5 time permitting the free bending of his body, a pair of suspenders that will not only hold the shirt on the front buttons of the I trousers but which has extending therefrom webbings provided with fastening means for 0 attaching the same to the hose of the user which not onl affords an effective support for the hose ut which holds the trousers in proper position and prevents the creasing thereof.
The invention will be fully and comprehensively understood from a consideration of the following detailed description when read in connection with the accompanying drawings which form part of theapplication, with the. understanding, however, that the improvement is capable of extended application and is not confined to the exact showing of the drawings nor to the precise construction described and, therefore, such changes and modifications may be made therefrom as do not affect the spirit of the invention nor exceed the scope thereof as expressed in the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective viewof the improvement, the same being indicated by dotted lines.
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the improvement. r As disclosed by the said drawings two crossed straps are employed. For distinction the front portions of these straps are indicated by the numeral 17 and the rear portions by the numeral 18. The straps 17 and 18 cross each other at the back of the suspenders and are connected together at their crossing points by a substantially rectangular tab 19. The ends of the front and rear portions 17 and 18 of the straps are disposed in close proximity to each other. The ends of the front and rear portions 17 and 18 are folded upon themselvesand are adjustably connected by clamps 20. The folded ends of the parts 17 and 18 of the straps have arranged therein loops 21. .60 These loops receive therethrough the folded ends of tabs 5. The lower ends of the folded tabs 5' are provided with button engaging eyes 22. Each adjacent pair of tabs 5 is connected by a short strap or webbing 13, and stitchedto the-center of each of the webbings 13 there is a depending strap 14, the ends of each of the straps 14 being folded upon themselves and the said folded ends receive therethrough hose engaging clamps 15.' The ends of the straps 14 are adjustably connected-by catches or clamps l6, so that the length of the straps 14 may be adjusted. 7
i The device not only provides an effective brace for the back and shoulders of the user,
a means for supporting trousers, but also a means for supportingthe hose of the wearer and likewise the straps 14 provide a means for holding the wearers trousers in pro erly creased condition. i
aving described the invention, I claim:
A pair of suspenders comprising crossed straps that afit'ord front and back members which at their crossing points are connected together, said front and back members having their ends folded and provided with clamps for adjusting such ends, loops in the folded ends of the straps and the ends of the respective pair of front and back members being disposed in close proximity to each other, tabs connected to the loops adjacent the ends of the said front and back members, eye elements carried by the tabs, a short strap connecting each pair of tabs, a long strap centrally secured to each short strap, each of said long straps having their ends folded upon themselves and connected by an adjustable clamp and clasps in the folded ends of the long straps.
In testimony whereof I afiEix m signature.
JULIUS M. SCHM ICHEL.
