This invention relates to suspenders, and a pair of belts 26. The belts run approxiparticularly to suspenders which are also adapted to act as an abdominal support.

The objects of this invention are to make 5 a suspender which may be worn under the shirt and will hold the trousers snug to the body in front, and also act as an abdominal support.

These and other objects are accomplished -1 by means of the following construction, in

which:

Fig. 1 shows a front View of the suspender in place, with the front of the trousers turned back to show the position of the attaching plates.

Fig. 2 is a rear View showing the suspenders in place.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the complete suspender.

Referring to Fig. 3, a pair of flexible straps are adapted to fit over a mans shoulder and hang parallel in front, and are joined together in back as indicated at 11. The ends of the straps adapted to hang in front of the body are formed with a loop indicated at 13 and a slidable adjuster 14. Flexible cords or loop members 16 pass through the loops 13 and have forwardly and rearwardly extending diverging branch portions connected in any convenient manner at spaced points to a pair of arcuate plates 18.

The plates 18 may be of any shape but are preferably approximately rectangular, having round ends, and are metallic so as to form an ample support for the abdomen. The plates 18 have four button fasteners 19 therein of like construction. The description of one, therefore, will suffice for the four. The but-- ton fastener is formed of a large annular hole 20 and a slot 21 running downwardly and towards the center of the body. A plate is located horizontally on edge to engage a set of buttons on the trousers with the set of holes, and is elongated and has substantial width to extend arcuately from the buttons 2. sub stantial distance forwardly over the abdomen toward the center vertical line of the front of the abdomen for supporting the abdomen.

hand is inserted beneath the shirt and each button on the trousers is inserted in an annular hole 20 of-the adjacent metal plate'and drawn down into the notch 21-. The annular hole 20' is of necessity made large enough'to accommodate the button when coveredwith the thickness of shirting material. Then the buttons are fastened and the frontof the shirt buttoned, the metal plates willbe drawn by the belts 26 and held by the trousers, giving a close fit to the front of the trousers and also pressing into the abdomen forming a support therefor.

' It will benoted that with thisconstruction the trousers are supported from the shoulders and drawn tight across'the front, so that no sagging of the front of the trousers is possible as occurs with usual suspendersyof this type. j It is realizedthat this device is susceptible to various changes in modifications coming well within the scopeof one skilled in the art, and it is not therefore, desired to limit this'invention to the precise form of structure shown herein, but only by the scope of the appended claims. What Iclaim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a device of the character described,

a strap having loops in oppositeends, a sec- 7 0nd strap having loops in opposite ends, a third strap having ends connected to the mid points of staid straps, flexible loop members slidable in the end loops of said straps, and plates connected to the free ends of said loop members having keyhole apertures.

In a device of the character described, a supporting element including a vertically extending back strap adapted to be mounted on the back of the wearer between the shoulders thereof, a shoulder strap connected to the upper end of said back strap having branches to extend over the shoulders of the wearer and, free ends provided with cordreceiving loops, a retaining strap connected to the lower end of said vertical strap having 7 free ends adapted to extend forwardly substantially horizontally beneath the arms of the wearer and provided with loops, flexible cords slidably mounted in the loops of said straps and having depending free ends, horizontally elongated arcuate plates having longitudinally spaced forwardly and downward 1y inclined apertures and front end portions extending substantial distances in front of,

the foremost of said apertures, andmeans connecting the cords to said plates at points adjacent said. apertures.

3. Suspenders including a shoulder strap, horizontally elongated plates engageable at spaced points with the waist band of trousers, loop members having middle portions, engaged with the ends of the shoulder strap, and ends connected at spaced. points with the upper edge portions of the plates to provide forwardly and rearwardly extending loop portions, a retaining strap connected with the shoulder strap to cause the free ends of the retaining strap to extend forwardly beneath the arms of the wearer, and means for connecting the ends of the retaining strap with the rearwardly extending portions of the loops. In suspenders including a shoulder strap having a portion to extend over a shoulder of the wearer and downwardly in front of the shoulder, and a loop having a middle portion engaged with the lower free end of said strapportion, a horizontally elongated plate connected with the free ends of the loop at points spaced on the plate to provide loop branches extending divergently forwardly and rearwardly from the shoulder strap, means for fixing the plate to the upper edge portion of trousers against horizontal movej ment, and retaining means including a strap connected with the shoulder strap to extend forwardly beneath said shoulder and having a free front end engaged with the rearw ardly extending branch of the loop.
