METERS, FHOT UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT D.'OSGOOD, OF ONEIDA, ILLINOIS.
-|MPROVEMENT IN PAINTERS WHEEL-HORSES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,150, dated May 9, 1876; application filed April 18, 1876.
To all. whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT D. OSGOOD, of Oneida, in the county of Knox, and in the State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Painters Wheel-Horse, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a front view of my improved painters wheel-horse and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of my invention is to providean improved horse for painting the wheels of vehicles of all kinds without necessitating the removing of the wheels. The-device admits the adjusting of the wheel into any position, takes up little room, and facilitates the work of painting in a considerable degree.
The invention consists of a base support or stand, with revolving upper part, and an adjustable hub, supporting top arm, and thimble.
In the drawing, A represents a suitable stand, to which the upper extension part or post B is applied so as toturn readily thereon, and be clamped by a set-screw, G, into any position. The upper part of post B carries the swinging arm D, which supports the wheel to be painted by a conicalthimhle, l), passing through the hub of the wheel and screwed fast to its arm. The supporting-arm D is pivoted to the post B, and retained at any suitable angle to the same by an arc-shaped guide-piece, E, and a clamp-screw, E, so that the wheel may be completely painted without being removed from the horse, as,in the old way. The wheel is secured at the desired angle on the arm and the post to. the stand, and may then be painted in a quicker and easier manner than with the old horse.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is A painters wheel horse, consisting of a base-stand, revolving ,top with set-screw,
swin into) arm with 'uide and clam screw, and hub-holding thimble, substantially in the manner and for the purpose specified.
