Vlhis invention relates to a garment hanger and it is anobject of the invention to provide a device of this kind constructed in a manner whereby it can be'conveniently ap- 5 plied to small neck dresses and other garments.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind comprising two sections, one of which having slidable connection withthe other, and wherein the sections are provided with means for holding the arms rigidly inextended or working position yet permitting the hanger to be easily folded when desired.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved garment hanger whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and oth.-

erwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. l

In order that my invention may be thebet` ter understood, I will now proceed to de- V scribe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is an elevational view of a garment hanger constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention with the arms extended;

Figure Sis a detailed sectional view illustrating a means for holding an arm extended. i As herein embodied, my improved hanger comprises two sections A and B. The section A comprises an elongated arm 1 preferably formed of wire of requisite gauge and having its outer end portion returned, as at 2, so that said arm can be effectively engaged with a garment without injury thereto. rllhe opposite lend portion of the arm 1 is continued to provide a dependingv and substantially semi-circular loop 3 disposed inwardly of the arm 1. The inner portion of the loop 3 is free from the arm 1 and is continued by a second arm 4L of desired length and having its outer end portion free to provide an inwardly Jfacing-hook member 5 whereby the device in its entirety can `be suspended from a desired support.

The outer'portion of each-of the loops 3 or Y 8 at its junction with the arm 1 or 1 is odset, as at 8, to provide a pocket or recess so to engage from below the arm 1 or 1 whereby said arms 1 and 1 are effectivelysupported in their raised or extended position.

When it is desired to fold the hanger, the arms 1 and 1 are freed from the pockets or recesses 8 and swung inwardly one toward theother as illustrated in Figure 2, the resultant contact of the arms 1 and 1 and the

3 and 3 effectively locking the hanger in such folded relation.

From the foregoing description it is thought to beobvious that a garment vhanger constructed in accordancewith my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and used, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptibleof some change and. modification without departing from the principles and spirit there of and lfor this reason I do not wish to be un- 100 derstood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.

I claim 1. A foldable garment hanger made of Wire and comprising tWo sections, each of said sections having an elongated arm, the inner end of each of the arms being returned to provide a substantially semi-circular depending loop terminating in an upstanding arm, the inner portion of the first named arm extending' through the loop of the similar arm of the second section and having contact with the first named arm of the second sec- 4tion when both of said arms are extended,

the extended arm of the loop of one section jhaving its free end portion connected to the extended arm of the loop of the secondsection.

2.A fo-ldable garment hanger made of `Wire and comprising two sections, each of said sections having an elongated arm, the inner end of each of the arms being returned to provide a substantially semi-circular depending loop terminating in an upstanding arm, the inner portion of the first named arm extending through the loop of the similar arm of the second section and having contact with the first named arm of the second section when both of said arms are extended,

the extended arm of the loop of one section having its free end portion connected to the extended arm of the loop of the second section, the portion of the loop of each section at its junction With the irst named arm of said section being provided with a recess to receive the'first namedy arm of the second section when the first named arms of both of the sections are extended.
