ERVIN G. GOLLNER AND EMIL FRETZ, OF DALLAS, TEXAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN AUTOMATIC FANS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 176,526, dated April 25, 1876; application filed March 13, 1876.
1'0 all whom it may concern Be it known that we, ERVIN G. GoLLNER and EMIL FRETZ, of Dallas, in the county of Dallas and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Fan lung-Machine, of which the following is a specification:
Our invention consists of a fan attached to the pendulum of a clock mechanism, and the pendulum provided with paw1s,i11 combination with the scape Wheel, in such contrivance as to give a quick strong movement to the fan, well adapted for beating the air, fordriving away insects from the table, bed, and other localities, the clock mechanism being located in a little case, which is mounted on legs which support it suitably for working the pendulum below.
Figure l is a sectionalelevat-ion of our improved machine, taken in the plane of the pendulum; and Fig. 2is a section taken in a plane at right angles to Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the clock mechanism; B, the escapement-wheel; E, the pendulum-rod; F, the pawls for working the rod from the scapewheels said pawls being connected to the rod on opposite sides of its pivot G, so that one takes hold before the other lets go. H is the pendulum, and l the fan. The pawls are tipped with rubber to make them elastic and noiseless.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The pendulum-rod E, having a fan, I, attached to it, and also having pawls F, com bined and arranged with the scape-wheel B, for working the red, as described.
