Description

Jude 17, t J. T. RubzlNsKl v V 1,
HIP REDUCING GARMENT Filed Sept. 19, 1928 Patented June 17, 1930 JOHN T. nonzmsxr, or new YORK, iv. v.
HIP-REDUCING GARMEFIT Application filed September 19, 1928. Serial No. 308,818.
This invention relates generally to garments and has more particular reference to a hip reducing garment.
The invention has for an object the provi sion of a device of the class mentioned, which is of simple durable construction, desirable in use and eflicient in action, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
The invention proposes the use of a hip line reducing garment with usual features-in the way of correcting the posture and supporting the figure combined with ability of reducing ones weight. Startling results in appearance are obtained on proper adjustment of the garment as directed by a navel engager member, and positive reducing is assured in a few weeks of wearing.
One object of my invention is to produce a new and improved one-piece garment without stays and harsh steels for molding the figure like a glove and made from ventilated porous fabric which washes like a handkerchief. It has thus, exclusive features that make it difierent and far better than any other garments.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the article applied upon a wearer;
Fig. 2 is a similar view showingthe rear side thereof.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary detail view of the front portion of the device.
Fig. 4: is a central vertical sectional view, taken on the line 4l-i of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 3, but disclosing a modification thereof.
The reference numeral 10 indicates generally the front portion of the garment arranged for covering ones hips and extending upwards to cover the breast, This front portion is provided with bust reinforcement straps 11 and a pair of front curved vertically arranged reinforcement straps 13. Side re inforcement straps 14 extend from the top to the bottom of the garment, and transverse reinforcement straps 15 on the hip line of the garment extend between straps 13 and 14.
The rear portion 16 of the garment is inthe reinforcement tegral with the front portion and has a central vertical gusset 17 of elastic material extending from the top edge completely to the bottom edge. A pair of rear vertical reinforcement straps 18 also extend from the top to the bottom, and transverse reinforcement straps 19, substantially on the hip line extend between the straps l8 and the gusset 17.
On the inner side of the garment and on the front portion thereof between the front curved reinforcement straps 13, a navel engager member 20 of felt is secured by means of stitches 21. The garment is shapedto present graceful lines, and the navel engager member 20 should be aligned with the navel so as to insure the proper wearing of the garment, that is for wearing the garment at the proper height. Obviously no matter how skillful the lines of the garment are made, if
not properly Worn it will defeat its graceful is no moving massaging action, the pressure is depended upon to produce the same results.
In addition, the porous condition of material, preferably chiffon, acts to permit for the proper ventilation of the article. -Usually, garments of this class are improperly worn and this renders themv inefficient. In the instant case the garment may be properly worn as directed by the navel engager as before described.
In the modified form of the device illustrated in Fig. 5 a navel engager member is illustrated having a front headed end 22 passing through a vertical slot 23 formed in.the
material of the garment. The edges of the slot are reinforced by stiffening edges 24:. A thin wire 25 passes through the head 22, and has hooks 26 at its ends engaging complementary fastening eyes 27 attached on the vertical reinforcement straps 13, and these fastening eyes 27 are arranged in vertical rows. It is readily seen that the position of the member 20 may be adjusted by engaging the hooks on different eyemembers for better adapting the garment to different individuals.
While I have shown and described the pre- I ferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes -and-modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended'claims.
7 Having thus described my invention, :what I claim as new, and desire to-secure byUnited States Letters Patent is v 1. In a garment of the class described, front material formed with a vertical slot, a navel engager having a headed end passing through the vertical slot, a thin wire passing through the headed end, a vertical row of eye fasteners attached on thBilIlZltB- rialof-the garment on each side-of the vertical slot, hooks secured to the free ends ofthe thin wire engageable in the vertical rows of eye fasteners for holding the navel engage;- in adjusted positions.
2. In a garment of the class described,
front material formed with a vertical-slot, a
navel engage-r having a headed end passing:
through the vertical slot, a thin wire ;passing through the headed end, a vertical row of eye fasteners attached on the material of the garment on each side of the vertical slot, means for engaging the thin wire in the vertical rows-of eye fasteners for. holding the navel engager in adjusted positions.
In testimony whereof I have aflixedzmy signature.
JOHN T. RUDZINSKI.
