This invention relates to marking apparatus for use in conjunction with various kinds of treatment such, for example, as a laundry process.
More specifically, the invention relates to a laundry identifier or tag of a specific type wherein the main body portion is fiat and forms one of the clamping members for securing the marker to the goods and is provided with a hinged clamping member preferably co-eXtensive with the clamping portion of the other member and adapted to be clamped and held upon the goods by a staple or other securing means.
Further details of the invention will be brought out in the following description, drawings and claim.
Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a perspective View of the clamp open; Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the clamp applied; Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section; Fig. l is a perspective view of the staple; and Fig. 5 is a sectlon across the waist of the marker.
In the arrangement shown, the identifier comprises a main body portion l having suitable identifying recesses 2 and 3. Adjacent the main body portion l are suitable hinged portions 4 bent from the metal and connecting the main body portion with the back clamping member 5. The clamping member is flat and is recessed on each side 6 to form a waist. Cooperating with the hinged portion 4 is a suitable hinge pin 7 passing through a suitable loop 8 forming a part of the outer identifier clamping member 9. This member is recessed on each side at 10 to form a waist. Engaging about these waists is a suitable holding device, in this instance, in the form of a staple 11 adapted to encircle the 1927. Serial No. 197,896.
