When it is desired to again have the guard in operative position it is moved back to the position shown in Fig. 2 when the flattened portion 20, in cooperation with the end of the setscrew 17, will again function to normally prevent dislocation of the guard and permit of its efiicient operation.

It will be obvious that various changes may be made in the arrangement, combination and construction of the various parts of my improved device without departing from the spirit of my invention and it is my intention to cover by my claims such changes as may reasonably be included within the scope thereof.

TvVhat I claim is:

l. A razor having a blade portion, a guard for the blade edge swingable over the edge on either side thereof thru an arc of approximately 180, means normally restricting said swinging movement to position the guard slightly offcenter of the blade edge, on either side thereof, and permitting the full swinging movement when abnormal pressure is applied thereto tending to swing it, said means being lixedly positioned longitudinally of the blade.

2. A lrazor having a blade portion, a guard for the blade edge swingable over the edge on either side thereof thru an arc of approximately 1800, means normally restricting said swinging movement to position the guard slightly off center of the blade edge, on either side thereof, and permitting the full swingingmovement when abnormal pressure is applied thereto tending to swing it, said means comprising a substantially Hat spot on Vthe guard and a stop member cooperating therewith, one being movable, by the application of such pressure, with respect to the other.

A razor including a blade member and a guard therefor, a portion of the guard being pivotally mounted to permit swinging of the guard in an arc of approximately 180, said pivoted portionv having a relatively flat spot thereon and a stop member cooperating with said spot to normally limit rotation of said portion.

5. A razor including a blade member and a guard therefor, a portion of the guard being pivotally mounted topermit swinging of the guard in an arc, said pivoted portion having a relatively flat spot thereon and a resilientlj7 acting stop member cooperating with said spot to normally limit rotation of said portion and permit rotation past such limits when required.

6. A razor having a blade provided with a cutting edge, aguard member having a portion adapted for swinging over the said edge in an arc of approximately 180 and a portion pivotally -supportedby the razor, said latter portion having a relatively flat spot thereon, said razor also carrying a stop member posi- `tioned adjacent the flat spot and adapted to cooperate therewith to normally limit the pivotal motion of the pivoted portion.

7. A razor having a blade provided with a cutting edge, a' guard member having a portion adapted for swinging over the said edge and a portion pivotally supported by the razor, said latter portion having a relatively llat spot thereon, said razor having a resilient member carrying a stop member positioned adjacent the fiat spot and adapted to cooperate therewith to normally limit the pivotal motion of the pivoted portion.

8. A razor having a blade including an edge portion and a shank portion, a guard having a portion swingable over saidedge, a member secured to the said shank having arecess receiving one end of the guard to form a pivotal mounting therefor, said guardend being provided vvith a vrelatively fiat spot, and a second member secured over the pivoted end of the guard, carrying a stop member adaptedgto cooperate with said spot to normally limit the pivotal action Vof said guard end.

9. A razor having a blade including an edge portion and a shank portion, a guard having a portion swingable over said edge, a member secured tothe said shanlr having a recess receiving one end of the guard to form a pivotal mounting therefor, 'said guard` end being provided with a relatively flat spot, and ze second member secured over the pivoted end of the guard, carrying a stop member adapted to cooperate withsaid spot to normally limit the pivotal action of said guard end, sais second .member comprising a resilient piece.
