Description
March 25, 1930. w. wElNscHRElDER TIE Filed May 31, 1928 lPatented Mar. 25, 1930 WALTERl WEINSCHREIDER, 0F *('JI-lIGAGrO,v ILLINOIS TIE Application filed May a1, 192s. seriai No. 281,951.4. V
The present invention relates to four-inhand ties, its main obj ect being the provision of means associated with one free end of the tie whereby the other end thereof may bev fas- 5 tened.
Another object of the present invention is the provision of an attachment associated with one of the free ends of the tie for fastening the other free end of the tie.
A still further object of the present inven tion is the provision in combination with the aforementioned attachment of means for fastening the two free ends of the tie to the button or buttonsv at the front part of the shirt.
With the above general objects in view and others that will appear, as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.4
In the drawing forming a part of this application and in which like designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout the several views,
F ig. 1I is a perspective View of the tie'when the same is in a -tied condition, looking from the back thereof; and
Fig. 2 is the cross-sectional View on line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail there is shown therein a tie including the neck porjtion 10 and knot 11. The tie also includes lining 12. The free front end of the tie when the same is in tied condition is indicated by 13, and the othervfree end which rests in the `rear of the iirst end 13 is indicated by 14.
A plurality of cross strips 15 are provided, which at their ends have male portions of snap-fasteners 16, for engaging the female portions of the snap-fasteners, thelatter being carried at the edges of the free end portion 13 of the tie. Said cross strips 15 at substantially middle portions are connected by one elongated strip 17, which throughout its length is provided with a plurality of closely positioned button-holes 18. Likewise said cross strips 15 at their central portions have button-holes 19, which likewise pass through said elongated strip 17.
Said cro-ss strips 15 in conjunction with the elongated strip 17 are yadapted to provide means for fastening the rear free end 14 of 55 the tie to the front end 13 thereof, while l one or more button-holes 18 and 19 are adapted to engage one or more shirt buttons 20 at the front portion of shirt 21.
From the hereinabove described construction it will be seen that cross strips 15 together with the oblong strip 17 will be detachable from the front end 13 of the tie, which arrangement permits the disengagement of said strips from the tie. during the process of 55* tying thereof, and when the tie has been tied said strips may then be attached to the tie by means of snap-fasteners 16. The fact that strips 15 and 17 are detachable will facilitate Washingand ironing of the tie, and one set 7 1. Detachable means for retaining together 50 the ends of a four-in-hand tie and attaching the tie to a shirt front, comprising a plurality of spaced apart cross or transverse members detachably engaged with the edges of the back part of the outer section of a tie, a longis tudinal connecting strip connected with each of the cross members thereby to form a pocketing device for receiving the inner portion of a tie, and said cross members and longitudinal members having button holes therein for go receiving one or more of the buttons of a shirt front to hold vthe tie in place.
2. Detachable means for retaining together the ends of a four-in-hand tie and attaching the tie to a shirt front, comprising a plural a ity of fabric strips connected together, certain of the strips being detachably engaged at their ends with the edge portions of the back part of the outer section of a tie, and arranged transversely thereof in spaced par- 'allel relation 13o-each' other, the other strip beingv permanently secured to each of the several cross or transverse strips and disposed v longitudinally of the outer section of a tie but not connected to the tie, said strips forming f a pocketing device for securing the inner p0rvtion of the tie, and all of the strips having button holes for engagement With the buttons of a shirt front to hold a tie in place thereon.
