CHARLES C. STEVENS, OF AURORA, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TAG-FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 75,192, dated March 21, 1876; application filed February 10, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, C. C. STEVENS, of Aurora, in the county of Dearborn and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag Fast ener; and do hereby declare that the followingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accom pan ying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the peculiar construction of a metallic fastening for tags on dry-goods, as will be hereinafter more particularly described.
In the accom pan ying drawings, making part of this specification, Figure 1 represents a per spective view, and Fig. 2 a longitudinal section.
In the figures, A represents the metallic plate, which forms the fastening. This plate is made ofsuitable width, and bent, as seen-in l ig. 2, there being a bend at a: and one at w, and the two ends of the plate one overlapping the other. i represents the overlapping end, which hasa V-shaped tongue punched inward, and at an angle of about forty-five degrees.
The overlapped end it has a hole punched in it opposite the tongue 6.
Inusing this metallic fastening, to which the tag is fastened by means of a string or any' usual manner, the clothis placed between the two ends a" and n. The end i is then pressed sothat its tongue c will enter the cloth, and then the opening at in the end n, and be clinched against the side m of the plate. This device makes a simple and cheap clamp for dry-goods for holding the tags on same.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim-as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The within-described tag-fastening, formed of a single plate of metal, with one portion of it, n, bent and extended in between the parts m i, the part n having an opening, 01, and the part i having a tongue, 0, as shown and described- In testimony that I claim the foregoing 'I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of January, 1876.
