My invention relates to an improved means for hanglng mirror frames, pictures frames,

v panels, plates and similar things, in such a wayv that the supported articles will lie fiat f against their support, and also in such a way thatthe hanging means is concealed by the article whichis hung. My invention is intended to produce a simplev and very 'strong hanging means which Yis entirely out of sight,

and which will permit the article to be suspended to lie iiat against its support, and to y construct the hanging means so that it is a very easy and simple matter to hang the desired article or to re move it from its support.

vMy invention is also intended to provide a structure which serves as a hanger and which can be easily adjusted to fit articles of difierent sizes. n

To the frame 11 or to any other article similar to a frame, are attached brackets 15 being placed opposite each other on the back of the frame, and these are provided with tongues 16 which are adapted to enter the sockets 13, and'which near their free ends are preferably bent to form bosses 17 which will project into the slots 14, as shown clearly in Figure 4, so that when the tongues are dropped into the sockets, the bosses 17 will oder suiiicient resistance tok prevent the tongues frombeing too easily removed, and yet they will permit the tongues to be removed if sufficient force is applied to raise the frame and tongues.

The structurealready defined is sufficient for most purposesy and for frames, plates, panels, or the like, which are not very large. The plate 12 is fastened to the wall, the brackets 15 to the rame ory similar thing,

'and then the frame is raised so that the tongue 16 will be abovethe sockets 13 and will register therewith, after which the frame is moved downwardly flat against the wall and the tongues enter the socket and support the frame. c

If, however, the frame is large or it is desired to secure. it more firmly than in the man ner above described, I provide a similar fastening for the bottom. To this end the plate 12 can have a downwardly extending adjustable tongue'or extension formed of the overlapping parts 18 and 19 which are slidable one on the other, and as shown they are guided by clips 20 'on the part 19` which over-` lap the member 18. The head 21 on the ymember 18 prevents the parts from being entirely separated. The lower end kof the member 19 has a socket 22 like the sockets 13 already described, except that it is open atthe bottom. i

i Vhen the extension of the plate 12 is used, l it is adjusted to the rightlength and fastened to the Wall or support, and when the frame is hung the tongue 23, which can have some iexibility, is guided into the socket 22, and the frame raised l.until the tongues 16 are showniabove the sockets 13, when the y frame may be pushed back against the Wall and dropped. The tongue 16 will thus enter the sockets 1 3, but-.the tongue 2,3 is long enough so that it will not be removed from the socket 22, and thus the frame will'be supported by the tongues 16l andV the plate ll2, but will be braced and guarded against latertachment to a Wall and with the arms provided with sockets on opposite sides ofthe stem and opening upwards, and the stern provided with a downward opening socket at its lower portion, and tongues adapted to be secured at desired positions to the article to be supported, said tongues being adapted to register with the aforesaid sockets.
