Description

Jan. 21, 1930. ACKERMANN 1,744,352
PRESS Filed March 7, 1927 2 Sheets-Sheet 1 (ZZ W Patented Jan. 21, 1936 UNITED STATES] PATENT OFFICE HUGO .AGKERMANN, OF GODESBERG-ON-THE-RHINE, GERMANY PRESS Application filed. March 7, 1927, Serial No. 173,301, and in Germany February 20, 1926.
The invention relates to an improved separable press-table for brick presses, consisting of a frame, enclosing a rectangular opening, in which shorter and longer mould compartments for bricks of differentsizes may be provided, without exchanging or disconnecting the frame elements of the press-table.
In the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 is a top View of the press-table showing the features of this invention.
Fig. 2 is a section through the press-table along the line N O in Fig. 1 showing two adjacent mould openings arranged abreast of on another. j
Fig. 3 is a section through the press-table along the line P Qjin Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a section alon the line B S in Fig. 1, demonstrating the etachable connection of the frame elements of the press-table.
ings, connected and held in position byfour' pillars 31, which also support between the two press-cylinders a pair of fixed parallel frame elements 29. a The distance apart of the fixed frame-elements 29 is secured by a pair- V of detachable frame elements 30 connected to' 30 the frame element-s 29 by bolts 32. The two pairs of frame elements forming the frame f of the presswtable enclose a rectangular open 1n which the elements of the moulding with mammal. 3.

The inner sides of. the side cheeks 1 and 2 are provided with grooves, which support the transverse walls 3 of the mould compartments by means of suitably shaped projections 4 at both'ends of the transverse walls 3. The transverse walls 3 are protected against wear by linings 15 also supported in the grooves of the side cheeks 1 and 2 by suitable projections 5 the length of which is greater than the'depth of the grooves. These longer projections 5 of the linings 15 support the linings 16, protecting the side checks 1 and 2 against wear, and provided with lateral slots by means of which they are held on the projecti0ns of the linings 15. i
The parts ofthe grooves in the side cheeks 1 and 2 behind the linings 16 and between the projections of the linings 15 arefilled up by filling blocks 18', the length of which determines the width of the mould compartment whereas its length is determined by the length of the transverse walls 3. 7
Set screws 36, arranged in the fixed frame 7 elements 29 bear against the outer transverse walls 3 which serve as end blocks.
In the example shown in the drawings two mould compartments for large bricks are distance apart of the fixed frameelements29.
' Also longer and shorter transverse walls 3 and linings 15 may be introduced between the longer or shorter bricks. K. i -35 After introducing the transversel'walls, linings and filling blocks adapted for; thedesired size and number of mould compartments betweenit he "adjustable side cheeks 51 and 2, the I latterare brought and held f; in :position 0 by suitably turning on the set screws 34 and 35. The right position of the mould compartments between the side cheeks l and 2 is-adjusted and secured by suitably turning on the set screws 36. As the side cheeks 1 and 2 guided in the grooves of the fixed frame elements may be shifted in one direction and the transverse walls, linings and filling blocks may be removed gliding in the grooves of the side cheeks'vertically to the shifting of the side cheeks, it is easy to adjust the mould compartments truly to the position of the corresponding upper dies 37 and lower dies 38, fixed respectlvely to the upper and lower press piston.
If other sizes or numbers of mould compartments are to be provided it is only necessary to loosen. the set- screws 34, 35 and 36, to
, withdraw the side checks 1 and 2 outwardly tillthe projections of the transverse walls 3 and the linings 15 come out of the grooves in the side-cheeks 1 and 2, and to exchange the transverse walls, linings and filling A tween the frame elements 29 and 30 facilitates the true and exact shaping of the frame elements and the mounting of the side cheeks 1 and 2 the lateral projections 33 of which may be easily introduced into the grooves of the fixed frame elements 29 after removing one of the detachable frameelements 30.
When necessary, for instance for repairing, or exchanging the pistons of the press-cylinders, both the side cheeks and the detachable frame elements may be removed after taking out the bolts 32.
I declare that what I claim is 1. A press includingin combination a presstable forming a frame of generally rectangular shape connected with the press, a pair of side cheeks adapted to slide between and supported by two opposite sides of the frame, means mounted in the other opposite sides of the frame for ad'usting said side cheeks relatively to the si es of the frame which support the side-cheeks, a plurality of transverse walls displaceably mounted between said side cheeks and means for adjusting said transverse walls relatively to said side cheeks.
2. A press including in combination a press-table forming a frame of generally rectangular shape and consisting of a pair of fixed parallel frame elements connected with the press and a pair of detachable frame elements, a pair of side cheeks adapted to slide between and supported by the fixed pair of frame elements, means mounted in the detachable frame elements for adjusting said side cheeks relatively to the fixed frame elements, a plurality of transverse Walls displaceably mounted between said side cheeks and means for adjusting said transverse walls relatively to said side cheeks.
3. A press including in combination a press-table forming a frame, consisting of a pair of fixed parallel frame elements provided with grooves at their inner surfaces, and a pair of detachable frame elements, a pair of side cheeks mounted between said fixed frame elements provided with lateral projections fitting into and displaceably supported by the grooves of said fixed frame elements, provided further with grooves at their inner surfaces, a plurality of transverse walls mounted between said 'side cheeks having projections at both ends fitting in and displaceably supported by the grooves in said side cheeks, means for adjusting said side cheeks relatively to said frame and means for adjusting said transverse walls relatively to said side cheeks.
4. A press including in combination a press-table forming a frame consisting of a pair of fixed parallel frame elements provided with grooves at their inner surfaces and a pair of detachable frame elements, a pair of side cheeks mounted betweensaid fixed frame elements provided with. lateral projections fitting into and displaceably supported by the grooves in said fixed frame elements, provided further with grooves at their inner surfaces, a plurality of transverse walls mounted between said side cheeks having projections at both ends fitting in and displaceably supported by the grooves in said side cheeks, filling blocks inserted in the grooves of said side cheeks between said transverse walls, adapted to space apart said transverse walls, set screws arranged in said detachable frame elements bearing against side side cheeks and set screws arranged in said fixed frame elements bearing against the outer transverse walls.
5. A press including in combination a press-table forming a frame consisting of a pair of fixed parallel frame elements provided with grooves at their inner surfaces and a pair of detachable frame elements, a pair of side cheeks mounted between said fixed frame elements provided with'lateral projections fitting into and displaceably supported by the grooves in said fixed frame elements, provided further with grooves at their inner surfaces, a plurality of transverse walls mounted between said side cheeks having projections at both ends fitting in and displaceably supported by the grooves in said side cheeks, transverse linings for taking wear arranged against said transverse walls provided with lateral projections fitting into the grooves of said side cheeks, linings for taking wear arranged against the side cheeks between the transverse linings and having lateral slots fitting on the lateral projections of the transverselinings, filling blocks inserted in the grooves of said side cheeks between the transverse linings adapted to space apart said transverse linings and transverse walls, set screws arranged in said detachable frame elements bearing against said side cheeks and set screws arranged in said fixed frame elements bearing agalnst the outer transverse walls.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification at Berlin, Germany. Y
HUGO ACKERMANN.
