IMPROVEMENT IN FENCE-POSTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 74,294, dated February 29, 1876; application tiled November 20, 1875.
To all whom it may concer-u Be it known that we, OLIVER L. PINNEY,
and EDWIN R. PINNEY, ot' Brunswick, in
the county of Medina and State of Ohio, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Wood and Iron Fence-Posts5 and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description ot the construction and operation of the saine, reference being had tothe annexed drawings, making a part of this specication, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

is a vertical central sectional view ot' the saine.
This invention has relation to fenceposts5 and it consists, mainly, in a gimlet-pointed, hollow, screw-threaded stub, having a prisiuatic head, terminating in a short cylindricalportion at its upper end, for the reception of the collar of a knee-brace, adjustably attached designed for receiving the wrench used for screwing the stub into the ground. Above this head b is a short cylindrical portion, g. The stub B is hollow, its upper end. The short cylindrical portion g is embraced by a ring, f, formed. cna kneebrace, E, the upper end of which brace is screw-threaded and passed loosely through a bracket, D, rigidly secured to the post A. Nuts e e are applied on the threaded portion of the brace E,.by adiusting which the post can be set in an upright position, in which position it will be sustained by said brace".
What we claimas new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.-l
1. The hollow giinlet-pointed stub B, having the prismatic part b, and short cylindrical 4portion g, in com bination with the post A, having the tenon a.,snbstantia1ly as described, and for the purpose set forth.
2. The post A, having tenon a, in combination with the hollow stub B, and adjustable kneebrace E, substantially as shown and described.
