Description

MILK BOTTLE Hamm Filed April 17. 1928 Attorney 10 in view as will appear 35 ings l2 so 40 so that it Patented Jan. 7, 1930 UNITED STATES PATEN OF F ICE JAMES N. DAUGHERTY, OF MASURY, OHIO Application filed April 17,
This invention relates to a milk bottle holder` and-has for its object to provide a structure which is simple, inexpensive to manufacture, sanitary, handy, convenient,
5 compact, easy to handle, thoroughly efficient `20 ing the base in section.
Figure 3 is a top plan view thereof'.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes the base which is provided with side flanges 6 and an 25 end flange 7 at the front thereof. These flanges 6 and 7 rise therefrom and the flanges 6 extend beyond the rear edge of' the base as is shown in Figure 1. An L.-shaped bracket 8 has its lower horizontal arm fixed to the cen- 30 ter of the base 5 by means of screws 9 or in any other preferred manner. The back 10 is secured to the vertical leg of the ybracket 8 by means of screws 11 or in any other suitable manner. This back is provided with openthat screws or the like may beinserted therethrough and engaged in the wall `or other suitable support.
A hinge la is mounted at the upper end of the back. A lid 15 is engaged with the hinge maybe swung to a horizontal position as shown in Figure 1, over a milk bottle seated on the base, and the lid is provided with a recess 16 in the bottom thereof into which the nioutliof the bottle will extend. The base 4.5 5 is provided with a plurality of circulating openings 18. This holder provides a sanitary and convenient means of handling milk 'after it is delivered to the home. The method now used'in delivering milk to the homes by dairies and other agencies is to set the bot- -position, a cover plate, and a hinge 1928. Serial N0. 270,725.
tles along side walks, porches, and many unsanitaiy places where it may be molested in several dierent `ways, namely, prowlers, children playing in the streets, dogs, cats and the like. The features of this holder is to eliminate these disadvantages by having the holder attached to the sides of the buildings7 hallways or kitchens, where milk may he placed inaccessible to these annoyances to maintain it pure. The holder is so constiucted that there is a free air circulation around the bottle at all times. It is also so constructed as to hold the bottle very firmly, Y
it being impossible for the bottle to be removed without first raising the lid which lits over the mouth of the bottle. This lid, which fits over the mouth of' the bottle, also protects the paper cap which is used in the mouth of the milk bottle.
No clamps or springs are necessary to sup` port the bottle. It is thought that the construction, utility, and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art, without a more detailed description thereof.` The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail, merely by way of example, since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable, in the statement of the invention and the above descrip-V tion.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of' construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to,
without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacriiicing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
` A milk bottle holder comprising a base including a bottom plate, side iianges carried by the plate and a front flange carried bythe plate, a vertical back plate extending upwardly from the base and disposed between the side flanges, an L-shaped bracket having one ai'm secured to the bottom face of the bottom plate and its other arm to the front saine in v face of the back plate for holding the having its beads secured respectively to the upper edge of the back plate and the cover plate, the rear edge of the cover plate engaging the front face of the back plate when in its lowered position, whereby the cover plate will be h'eld over and spaced from the top of a bottle,` when the same s placed on the base, as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I ax my signature.
JAMES N. DAUGHERTY.
