Description
Dec. 24, 1929. w. NEWSOM 1,741,068
MOTH ELIMINATOR Filed Oct. 27, 1927 album,
Patented Dec. 24, 1929 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE MOTH ELIMINATOR Application filed October 27, 1927. Serial No. 229,179.
This invention relates to improvements in moth eliminators, one object of the invention bein the provision of a folding or collapsible device adapted to be suspended between garments and composed of moth-repelling material such as cedar wood, thus providing a means to prevent the moths from laying eggs and hatching the same in the garments among which the present device is suspended.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simple, durable and inexpensive to manufacture and thoroughly efiicient and practical in use.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a plan view of the complete device extended.
Figure 2 is an edge view thereof.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of several of the strips showing the flexible connections broken away.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates the main supporting strip of the present device which has attached thereto a plurality of flexible members 6 which may be made of tape, cord or whatnot, and which support, in turn, the slats 7, the number of the same being such as to permit the device 39 J0 extend between the garments and of substantially the same length or greater than the garments when suspended r'rom a coat hanger. Each slat is provided, as here shown, with the edge notches 8 which permit of the oroper engagement of the flexible strip 6 thereto.
The strip 5 may be suspended in any desired manner, but it is here shown as connected by threaded hooks 9 through openings 10 of the coat hanger 11, which is provided with the rack-engaging hook 12. By this means it will be noted that the present device may be rolled to occupy a small space when not in use, and may be extended, as i'hown in Figures 1 and 2, when in use.
All of the slats 5 and 7 are preferably made of cedar, which is a moth-eliminating wood, as is well known, and retains its qualities for a considerable length of time.
Although I have described the slats as being provided with the notches 8, it is apparent that any method of attaching the flexible strips 6 thereto may be employed, and any means for supporting the present flexible slatted arrangement may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention.
I claim A slatted collapsible moth-board composed of a plurality of parallel and spaced strips of moth-repelling material and notched respectively in the edges thereof, and a plurality of flexible supporting connections engaging the notches of the respective strips and holding same in flexible and spaced relation to each 5 other, and means connected to one end of the board for supporting the same in a loose vertical position, said means comprising a plurality of hooks anchored at one end of the board, a strip provided with a plurality of openings to receive said hooks, and supporting means carried by the last-named strip.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
WVILLARD NEIVSOM.
