The invention relates to an improved combined coat hanger and brush, and has for its primary object the provision for an improved construction of this character, adapted and 5 arranged for ready folding, and which iscapable of economical manufacture, and

highly efficient in use.

Another object of the invention is the provision of an improved extension and means for such a device, adapted and arranged for ready folding. 1

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention consists of the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which Fig. 1 is a front view of the device shown in extended position, and

Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the same shown in folded position. I, The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawings comprises two sup porting arms 3 hingeably connected end to end by means of a hinge 4 on one side and a detachable hook connection 5 on the other side, whereby said arms may be readily secured in extended positions, as illustrated in Fig. 1, or readily folded, as illustrated in Fig.

2. The supporting arms 3 are provided with central suspending means in the form of a flexible cord 6 having its ends passed downwardly through the perforations 7 in the arms 3 on opposite sides of the hinge 4, the lower ends of the cord ends being knotted at 8 to secure them in place. At its upper end the cord 6 carries a hook 9 secured to said cord by means of an eye 10 engaged by a loop 11 in the cord. The arms 3 are provided on the undersides of their outer ends with brush bristles 12, as shown.

Vhen it is desired to employ the device as a clothes hanger, it is secured in extended bristles 12 adjacent to each other so that they will cooperate in forming a suitable brush,if desired. Owing to the flexible character of the cord 6, the device may be readily folded into compact form including the suspension element, as indicated in Fig. 2. The specific form and arrangement of parts constitutes a simple and effective one for the purpose.

l/Vhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying the invention into elfect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I therefore do not wish to be limited to the exact details disclosed, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A device of the class described comprising two supporting arms hinged together end to end for folding; a detachable hook connection for securing said arms in extended'positions; a flexible suspension element attached to said arms on opposite sides of said hinge connection, said flexible element consisting of a cord having its ends secured to said arms, there being vertical perforations extending through said arms and the ends of saidcords extending through said perforations and be ing knotted; and a suspension element secured to said cord, said cord being looped upon itself centrally to engage said suspension element.
