Description

Aug. 21, 1928,
A. J. LIVESAY d Jan 1928 Patented Aug. 21, 1928 UNITED STATES mimzw J. nrvnsaz, or warm son'rntm srames, wss'r vmsmra FOLDING BACK OB HOLDER.
Application fled January 9, 1928. Serial No, 245,568.
This invention relates to a folding rack or holder for various articles, the general object offthe invention being to form the rack of wire and to hin'gedly connect to the bottom thereof a yoke-shaped member for holdin papers, towels and the like.
Anoaier object of the invention is to provide means for holding the device in folded position, with the yoke-shaped member olded against the device so that the device will occupy but little space when not in use.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views and in which y Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device 1n "open position.
Figure 2 is a section on ure 1.
As shown in these views, the device consists of a rectan ar frame 1 having its corners looped to orm the upper eyes 2 and the lower eyes 3, these lower eyes being bent at rightan les to the frame. Horizontal wires 4 an vertical wires 5' have their ends looped around the sides and ends of the frame 1 with the vertical wires wrapped. around the horizontal wires.
A front frame 6 is formed similar to the line 2-2 of Fig- 7 frame 1, this frame also having the horiand the lower ends of the vertical wires 8 of said frame 6 are looped around the bottom iece of the frame 1 so that said frame 6 is ingedly connected with the lower part of frame 1.
A'wire 10 is movablywnnected with each of the eyes 3 by having an eye 11 formed at its lower end for engaging the eye 3 and the upper ends of these wires 10 are bent to form eyes 12. A wire 13 connects each of the eyes 2 with the eyes 12, each wire 13 having its ends bent to form-eyes, one engaging the eye 2 and the other the eye 12. A
wire 14 connects the, 11 per end of each wire 10 with each eye 15 ormed at each upper corner, of the frame 6, this wire 14 also having its ends bent to form eyes for engaging the eyes 12.and 15. lVires 16 connect each wire 10 with each end of the frame 1 and similar wires 17 connect each wire 10 with each end piece of the frame 6. These wires have their ends looped so that they are hinged to the end pieces and to the wires 10. Vertical wires 18 are spaced midway between each wire 10 and the end pieces of the frame 1 and 6, these wires 18 having their ends looped around the horizontal wires formin the end ieces of the device. Thus it wil be seen t at the wires 10 can be swung inwardly so as to fold the two sections "of each end of the device to ermit the frame 6 to be folded against the rame 1 to collapse the device. Each end of the device, when open, is of V-sha e so that the frame 6 slopes upwardly an outwardly from the frame 1 when said frame is in a vertical'position so that various articles can be placed in the device.
nected with the bottom of the evice by having eyes 20 formed at its upper endijfor A yoke-shaped member 19 is hingledly com the folded device when t e device is not in use. A latch 20' is hingedly conne'ctedwith the top piece of the frame 1 to en e the folded parts to hold them in collapse con; 9
dition and a stem 21 is formed in the center of the top piece of the frame 1 by looping and twistlng a portion of said top piece, this stem being formed with an eye 22 so that the devicecan be hung on a nail or other su port on a wall.
t is t ought from the foregoin description that the advanta es and nove features of my invention will e readily apparent.
It is to be understood that I ma make chan in the construction and in t e combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1. A device of the class described comprising a rear frame, a front frame hingedly posed of two sections hingedly coxmected together, a yoke-shaped member having the upper ends of its limbs hingedly connected with the lower end of the rear frame, a stem connected with the center of the top piece of the rear frame and having an eye at its upper end for enabling the device to be hung on a projection extending from a wall and a latch hinged to the top piece of the rear frame for holding the parts in folded position.
2. A device of the class described comprising a rear frame composed of a rectangular member formed of wire and having an eye at each corner thereof, the lower eyes being bent outwardly at rightangles, horizontal and' vertical wires having their ends connected with the rectangular member, 9.
front frame composed of an upper piece and two end pieces, the end pieces having eyes at their ends engaging the lower eyes of the 2 ANDREW J. LIVESAY.
