- My invention relates to fixtures for spring actuated window shades. It particularly relates to the support of those shade-rollers which are arranged in pairs on brackets between the top and bottom of the window casing, and which are unrolled each way from the brackets. A space is thus left of varying width through whichlight passes as the curtains are rolled or unrolled. This condition should be met by the introduction of a lightstop extending across the window opening which shall be close enough to screen such space and which shall not interfere with the action of the shade-rollers or shades.

My invention relates to fixtures for spring actuated window shades. It particularly relates to the support of those shade-rollers which are arranged in pairs on brackets between the top and bottom of the window casing, and which are unrolled each way from the brackets. A space is thus left of varying width through whichlight passes as the curtains are rolled or unrolled. This condition should be met by the introduction of a lightstop extending across the window opening which shall be close enough to screen such space and which shall not interfere with the action of the shade-rollers or shades.
By means of my invention, I am able to combine the light-stop with adjustable brackets for securing it to the window casing and in proper relation to the curtain brackets, toreduce the number and simplify the characgo ter of the relative parts and to manufacture them more readily and cheaply by the use of blanking and forming dies. I thus do away with the weight and cost of castings, and I am thus able to provide metal parts which are more closely and accurately fitted to each other and which may be readily removed and replaced relatively both to each other and to the window casing.
The principles of my invention are illustrated in the drawings in which Fig. 1 shows a front View of one form of my invention, as applied to a window casing; Figs. 2 and 3 represent perspective views of the bracket elements thereof; Fig. 4c is a cross-section on the line 4: 4: of Fig. 1; Figs. 5 to 7 inclusive, show a modified form of my device corresponding to the similar Figures 1 to 3, inclusive ;Figs. 8 and 9 represent cross-sections on lines 8 and 9 of Fig. 5.
Further describing my invention with reference to the drawings in which like characters of reference denote like parts through out: Numeral 1 represents a bracket having a transversely bent portion at 2 forming a shade roller bracket member and a light-stop bracket member 3 extended from each other at the right-angle portions at which they are connected. The light-stop bracket members 3 are slightly off-set and extended at 9 to form extension members 10 adapted to contact with the inner faces of the light-stop connecting member 15. The said light-stop connecting member has inwardly turned edges 16 which form channels 17 adapted to receive the edges of the extension members 10 of the light-stop bracket and unite with them to form an adjustable but continuous light-stop which will extend from one end of the window to the other in front of the curtain rollers.
It will be seen that, when placed in a window casing, the extension members of the light-stop brackets from the point 9 to the ends at 11 should be of such length and the light-stop connecting member 15 should be of such length relatively thereto that the connecting light-stop connecting member may be moved to even its position on the extension bracket members and combine therewith to hold the parts in rigid relation to each other The offset at 9 provides clearance for the light-stop in such adjustment relatively t the window casing.
Means is also provided by which the brackets and their extension light-stop members may be. removed entirely from the casing.
The shade-roller and light-stop brackets re spectively are adapted selectively to be attached to the faces or sides of a window-casing and are provided with key-hole slots 20 adapted to receive screws 21 which may be laced in the faces of the window casing to hold the brackets removably in place.
The devices shown in Figs. 6 and 7 have similar brackets to those already described. They include the inwardly projecting roller brackets 2 and the laterally extended and slightly off-set light-stop brackets 10. Said brackets are adapted to contact with the inner faces 15 of the connecting light-stop members hereinafter described, and are limiteclly adapted to slide upon and contact with such faces.
In this case the light-stop may consist of two elements which are longitudinally slidable and adjustable as to their combined length.
One section consists of an element 25 which has its longitudinal edges 26 turned inwardly to form channels 27. The other light-stop section 28 has the edges 29 turned inwardly upon the body portion to form rigid reinforcements which may be received within the channels 27 and be readily movable therein throughout its entire length.
The outer ends of said light-stop-sections have loops 30 which may be struck from the body thereof and which extend outwardly from the inner faces of the light-stop. They are thus adapted to .pass around and enclose the inwardly extended light-stop brackets 10 which are thus readily adjusted and held in rigid contact with the inner face of the light-stop elements and form a complete closure against light.
I claim:
The combination of amounting and light stop for double shade rollers comprising a pair of brackets, each bracket being formed from a continuous strip of metal and having a transverse right-angle bend'so as to provide ashade roller bracket member and an extension light-stop member, the said two exten sion membersbeing-connected to form a lightstop for the shade rollers when mounted on said brackets, said extension bracket members having forwardly directed transverse clearance offsets, each extending in a plane for- Wardly of the end portions of the end of the strip carrying the shade roller bracket memher, and a light-stop having turned over edges adapted to receive the twoofi set portions of the extension members and be'disposed ,in the sameplane with the 'POlijiOIlS'O'f the extension members carrying the shade roller bracket members.
