- This improvement is applicable'to indoor and outdoor purposes, on buildings or structures of various kinds, including railroad-cars and ships; and in every instance where movable or stationary slats are now used this improvement has all the advantages, with none of the disadvantages, of wooden slats, that of not entirely shutting out light and ventilation, sun, and to keep insects out of the building, and of having no movable parts, which so freqliently get out of repair, while the same or greater advantages are secured as regards the cost and effect as are claimed for the blinds, shutters, &c., in my former application for patent made on the 11th of June, 1875.

IMPROVEMENT IN METALLIC SHUTTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,7SQ, dated'February 22, 1876; application filed October 14, 1875.
CASE A.
To whom it may concern I Be it known that I, GEORGE HAYES, of N o. in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Panels for Window- Blinds, shutters, doors, screens, shades of.railroad-cars, the inclosing of verandas, summerhouses, or any structure to which movable or stationary slats are applied; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification.
This improvement is applicable'to indoor and outdoor purposes, on buildings or structures of various kinds, including railroad-cars and ships; and in every instance where movable or stationary slats are now used this improvement has all the advantages, with none of the disadvantages, of wooden slats, that of not entirely shutting out light and ventilation, sun, and to keep insects out of the building, and of having no movable parts, which so freqliently get out of repair, while the same or greater advantages are secured as regards the cost and effect as are claimed for the blinds, shutters, &c., in my former application for patent made on the 11th of June, 1875.
