This invention relates generally to a babys bottle, and has more particular reference to a novel nipple therefor.
The invention has for an object the pros vision of a device of the class mentioned, which is of simple durable construction, de-
sirable and efcent in action, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
The invention proposes the use of a nipple having a stopper portion for insertion into the mouth of a babys bottle, and a flange portion arranged for engaging over and disengaging from the neck of the said bottle. In its normal disengaged position the flange is directed upwardly and around the main portion of the nipple, and it may be turned downwards for engaging the neck of the babys bottle.
One of the main advantages of this arrangement is that the nipple is firmly held in place on a babys bottle by reason of the stopper and the flange, this obtaining a posi* tive and reliable connection. In addition leaking of milk from the bottle is highly improbable due to the roundabout path necessary to travel for leaking. First the milk would have to pass along one direction and along the stopper,-and then in the opposite 3o direction and along the flange.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

When the bottle is laid on its side, the end of the tube 19 near to the bottom of the bottle 10 hangs down toward the lower edge of the bottle, thereby allowing most of the milk to be sucked out of the bottle.
In applying the nipple on a bottle, the flange 16 should be turned into raised position, and then the, stopper 14 forced into the mouth of the bottle. Next the flange 16 should be turned down over the neck of the bottle.
InFigs. 4, 5 and 6, the tube 19 is climi.- nated from the device, and the flange 16 is formed with a groove 20 for engagement over the enlarged end 13, and with a bulge 21 for engagement against the side of the neck 12. This organization provides a finer fit of the nipple upon the bottle, and acts for further insuring against milk leakage from the bottle. In Fig. 7 small integral fla s 22 are shown connected on the flange 16 or providing a gripping element for raising and lowering the flange.
The modified form shown in Fig. 8, discloses a comparative non-elastic flange 24, 100
relative to the material of the nipple, such as rubberized cloth, secured to the top of the stopper 14 by reason of having its ends cast into the stopper, and arranged for engaging over the neck 12 of the bottle. The fiange 16 engages over the flange 24, when turned downwards for forcinflI the flange 24 firmly against the neck 12. This arrangement also prevents leakage of milk froml engaging against the ange 16.
. While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope ofthe invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. A nipple for a babys bottle having a neck with an enlarged top edge, and a mouth, comprising a main portion, a stopper portion integral therewith and engageable in the said mouth, an integral fiange cngageable over the neck of the bottle, and a comparative nonelastic fiange attached to the stopper and engageable over the neck of the bottlel beneath the said flange.
2. A nipple for a babys bottle havinga neck with an enlarged top edge, and a mouth, comprising a main portion, a stopper portion integral therewith and cngageable in the said mouth, an integral flange engageable over the neck of the bottle, and a comparative nonelastic flange attached to the stopper by reason of having its edges cast into the material of the stopper and cngageable over the neck of the bottle beneath the said fiange.
3. A nipple for a babys bottle having a neck with an enlarged top edge, and a mouth, comprising a main portion, a stopper portion integral therewith and cngageable in the said mouth, an integral flange engageablev over the neck of the bottle, and a comparative rubberized cloth flange attached to the stopper and engageable over the neck rof the bottle beneath the said flange.
