IMPROVEMENT INTOV TARGETS AND BATTERIES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,267, dated February 8, 1876; application filed November 3, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. CAMP- BELL, otf the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State ot' New York, have invented an The object of this invention is to furnish' a miniature extending, folding, sliding shootingran ge, in combination with target and battery and indicators for bulls-eyes, for the use and amusement of young people.

The range isso constructed as to extend,

slide, or fold up, and is provided with a bat' tery to move on the range with gun, mounted and working, on a pivot to shoot at the target, and guides or markers to show the distance to shoot from.

Figure l shows the invention in longitudinal section, with range-sections A, A2, A3, and E, battery C, gun D, guides B,center bullseye H, signal F, and target G. v Fig. 2 `shows the apparatus folded, the range-sections A, A2, A3, and E, battery C, target G, bulls-eyes H, I, and K, all appearing in a plan view. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the range, showing the front of target G, bulls-eyes H, I, and K, signal J, signal F, round box with inclosed springs VK. Fig. et is the side view of round box. Fig. 5 shows a range adapted to slide instead of fold, and Fig. 6 is a cross-section of Fig. 5.

Fig. l represents the range opened, with battery and target attached. Thisurange is so constructed as to extend, fold, or slide in sections; or the range may, in some cases, be

made stationary. B B2 are the markers or A guides, that are placed at the joints of the ran gesections, showing the distances to shoot l from. C is the battery with gun mounted,

and working o.- a pivot, having port-hole in front to-guide the shooter, and aid in preventing the'shot from going outside of range. D shows the gun mounted on battery, with sides attached, and with screw running down through platform of battery. E E are the supportsattached to ran ge-sections A3 A3, and

between which is the target G. F is the im dica-tor attached to the rear of center bullseye H, and is a long rod with springs twisted on the end, and signal attached.

There may be a line attached to rod by which to pull it down over the button, catching on the hook, as letter X shows 5 when struck it rises. v

H is the center bulls-eye with rod attached, that leads to center rear of target, with button on the end. When struck it presses back and knocks oft' catch of signal F, and raises it, as dotted line shows. Mshows the back end of target attached to range and the supports E, having the rods of each bulls-eye passing through it.

Fig. 3, letter G is the front of target, with bulls-eyes I, H, and K; J, the side signal, constructed the same as signal F. The rod is arranged to be pressed down over or behind button of' bulls-eye I, where it is retained by a catch. When struck it is knocked off the catch, and the signal rises. K is the round box with inclosed spiral springs, and provided with a rod surmounted by a figure, K. The rod is Aarranged to be pressed down on catch leading to bulls-eye K; when bullseye K is struck it rises.

battery, and bnlls-eyes H, I, and` K, and with rods leading to indicators.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, the following claims:

1. An extensible toy target and battery,

adapted to fold over or slide npon itself, forv the purpose of increasing or decreasing the range, substantially as described.

2. ln a toy target and battery constructed, to beextensible, the distance guides or markers B B, arranged substantially as and for the purpose specified.
