GAME APPARATUS.
Application filed March 1, 1918. Serial No. 219,896.
object is to provide a device including a...
board on which is mounted a-toy gun or the like for discharging a missile or marble through a chute member toward, a target which may carry the representation of a mans face, an opening being provided for the mouth and a tongue extending through the opening but being normally held in a retracted position until released by the impact of the missile.
A further object is to provide in a game of the type indicated a target member carrying the representation of a mans face, an opening being provided for the mouth, and a tongue being pivotally mounted on the rear side of the target and normally held in a retracted position by means of a suitable device thrown out of engagement upon impact of a missile discharged in the manner specified.
A still further object is to provide in connection with a gun for discharging a missile or marble used in the game an adjustable guiding member for directing the missile toward the target.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view.
Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section.
Fig. 3 is a detail view in elevation.
In arrying out my invention I employ a board 10 comprising a bottom member 12 having a series of perforations therein, each numbered to indicate a score with which a player is to be credited when he discharges a missile from the gun, described below, and this missile rolls backwardly into the board and into one of the aforesaid apertures.
The front of the board is designated 14 and the side portions are shown at 15 and 16, the front member being provided with an aperture through which extends the plunger 17 of a toy gun for discharging marbles or other suitable missiles used in the game. The barrel of the gun is designated 18, and the breech comprises a plate U- shaped in cross section and provided with outwardly extending flanges 19 connected with the bottom member 12 of the board.
Extending in -alinement with the barrel of the gun is a chute 20 upwardly inclined toward the rear ,end thereof and provided with flanges 21,for guiding the marbles. The extreme end of the chute comprises a member 22 which may beldeflected to the de- On the underside of the chute sired angle. near the rear end thereof is a supporting device 24.
The target comprises a member 26 on Specification of Le'tters Patent. Patent d S t. 17, 1918- i which may appear the representation of a mans face having a comical expression, the target being known as the nigger. An' opening 27 is provided and represents the mouth, and the object of the game is to direct the marbles through the mouth. A
In the use of the device it is intended that every player shall be provided with five marbles and that when one of these marbles is shot through the opening in the target the player will be. entitled to a count of 50. The marbles missingthe center of the target or the mouth and rolling downwardly into the table or board will be credited according to the opening in which they come to rest. The player obtaining the highest count or score after exhausting the allotment of five marbles wins the game.
What is claimed is:
1. In a device of the class described, a board, a toy gun mounted thereon, a target opposite said gun and having an opening therein, a chute between the gun and target, and a pivotally mounted indicating device carried by the target and movable by gravity through the opening, and releasing means projecting across the opening tobe engagedchute for directing missiles discharged fromthe gun, means for deflecting the missiles ina given direction from the chute, a target having an opening therein, and a pivotally mounted member carried by the target andadapted to drop into said opening. 7
3. A board, a toy gun mounted thereon, a target carried by the board and comprising a board or the like having an opening therein and carrying a comicalrepresentation, a pivotally mounted tongue carried by the board on the rear side" thereof, and means for normally holding said tongue in retracted position,-and allowing the latter to drop'into position Within the opening of the board.
l. A target comprising a board or the like having an opening therein, a tongue pivotal ly mounted on the rear of the board at a point spaced from the opening for said tongue, and including a deflected portion, and a pivotally mounted arm mounted on the board at the side of the opening opposite to that on Which the tongue is mounted, said arm When in operative position engaging the free end of the tongue and holding the latter in retracted position and out of the opening in the board. p
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
