IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-TUB STANDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,745, dated January 25, 1876; application filed I December 16, 1875.
I hereby declare that the following is a full,
clear, and exact description thereof,which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and -to the letters of reference marked thereon,
which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the stand when folded, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same when folded out ready for use.

This invention relates to that class of washtub stands or benches that may be folded up when not in use, so as to occupy the least possible space; and it consists in the construction and combination of the parts thereof, as hereinafter more fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing, A A are two cross-pieces, mortised at a a, so as to fit together at right angles, as shown in Fig. 2. The cross-pieces A A are secured together by a central pivot,
B, fixed in the uppermost cross-piece A, and upon which the lower cross-piece A turns. Pivot B has a button, I), to preveutcross-piece A from coming off. Legs 0 0 c c are attached to the ends of the crosspieces, and each of these has at one end a slot, d, for the purpose of preventing the wash-tub from sliding off when the stand is in use.
The advantages of my invention will be easily seen from the foregoing description. It is cheap, easily constructed and operated, and can, when not in use, be folded, as in Fig. 1, so as to occupy the smallest possible space.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- In afoldin g wash-tub stand, constructed substantially as described, the central pivotingpin B, at'fiXed in the upper cross-piece A, and having button b, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and specified.
