HOSE SUPEORTER.

This invention relates to a hose supporter which is adapted to be permanently attached to an apparel corset or other garment.

One object of this invention is to provide a hose supporter which may be simply and easily adjhsted-to various-heights while the garment to which it is secured is being worn and the supporter is attached to the hose.

Another object is to provide a supporter in which all metal parts including the adjusting buckle are always separated from the skin of the wearer.

Another object is to provide a supporter which can not bulge outwardly when the wearer thereof stands, sits, stoops or assumes any other position.

A further object is to provide a novel form of buckle peculiarly well adapted for use with a hose supporter and which is pos tively maintained closed in the adj ustedposition by the tension of the supporter.

A still further object is to provide a supporter having a wide range of adjustability and great elasticity.

These and other objects will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein Fig. 1 shows my improved supporter attached to the skirt of a garment,

Fig. 5 shows a detail of the retainer shown in'Fig. 4.

Referring to the drawing, there is shown a depending skirt 1 of a garment such as a corset. A folded piece of webbing 2 is secured to the skirt by stitching 8 and a strip of elastic webbing 4 has one end secured to the lower edges of webbing 2 at 5.

The elastic web 4 extends downwardly beyond the lower edge of the garment skirt- 1 and is secured thereto by stitching 6. The free end of elastic web 4 is looped through the ring of a supporter member 7 and passes upwardly under a retaining strap 8.

A cloth retaining strap 8 is secured to the garment skirt 1 adjacent the lower edge thereof and is sli htly bowed outwardly to allow free movement of the elastic web 4.

Slidably mounted on the inner told of the elastic web 4 is a lever buckle, having a slot 10 in the lever 9 thereof. The free end of upper fold of the web 4 and raising the same,

which action raises the lever and releases the buckle, whichmay then be moved to a new position. This adjustment may be readily accomplished while the supporter is'in use. The tension of the hose holds the lever of the buckle closed, thus obviating the annoyance oi' the buckle becoming inadvertently loosened in use. Retaining strap 8 holds the supporter from bulging and yet allows great elasticity, since the elastic web 4 is free to stretch from the stitching 5 downward. The buckle'never passes below the skirt 1 of the garment and therefore is retained in a position out of contact with the skin of the wearer. The range of adjustment for the buckle is determined by the upper and lower points of attachment of the strap or, as regards the lower limit, the retaining strap 8.

The modification shown in Figs. 4 and 5 is somewhat similar to that of Figs. 1, 2 and 3. Elastic web 4 is not secured to the buckle lever, however, but is secured to a bar pivotally depending from the buckle back. Lever 9 is pivoted to the buckle back at a point above the pivot for bar 15. Lever 9 of the buckle is therefore not operable by a li ting movement of the elastic web 4.

A metal strap 16, as shown in detail in Fig. 5 is stitched to' skirt 1 in-place of the cloth strap 8 of Fig. 1. The operation of this modification is substantially like that of Fig. 1., with the exception, as above noted, of the buckle. While this invention has been shown and described in connection with a corset, it will be obvious that it is not limited to such use, bein equally applicable to any type of garment which suspends, by webbing which may or may not be elastic, any other piece of apparel.

While I have shown only two forms in which my supporter may be embodied, it will be understood that the inventionis not limited thereto, since many changes in form and size may come within the purview of this invention.

I claim:

1. In an apparel suspender, the combination with a garment of a web member at tached thereto at two points and having a free end, and a buckle adjustable upon said web member intermediate its points of attachment, the free end of said web member being connected to-a part of said buckle.

2. In an apparel suspender, the combination with a garment of a web member attached thereto at two points and having a free end, and a lever buckle adjustable upon said web member intermediate its points of attachment, the free end of said web member being connected to the lever of said buckle.

In an apparel suspender, the combination with a garment of a web member attached thereto at two points and having a free end, a lever buckle adjustable upon said web member intermediate its points of attachment, the free end of said web member forming a loop and connected with the lever of said buckle, and a supporter member carried by said loop and adapted when in use to exert a closing influence upon the lever of said buckle to maintain the adjustment of the buckle on said. web member.

4. In an apparel suspender, the combination with a garment having a skirt portion, of a web member attached to said skirt portion at two relatively remote points and having a free end, a buckle-adjustable upon said web member intermediate said points of attachment and thereby confined in its adjusting movement, said free end formed in a loop and connected with said buckle, and a supporter member carried by said loop.

5. In a hose suspender, the combination with a garment having a skirt portion, of a web member attached to said skirt portion at two relatively remote points and having a free end, a lever buckle adjustable upon said web member intermediate its points of attachment, the free end of said web member formed in a loop and attached at its extremity to the lever of said buckle, and a hose supporting member carried by said loop, whereby the buckle may be released for adjustment upon said web member, when said garment is being worn and said hose supporter member is attached to the hose, by raising said free end of the web.

6. In an apparel suspender, the combination with a garment, of a strap secured to said garment at a point removed from the edge thereof, a supporter member, a member adjustable longitudinally of said strap and serving to. adjust said supporter member, and means for preventing adjustment of said adjustable member beyond the edge of said garment, said means comprising a loop secured to said garment adjacent the edge thereof.

7. In an apparel suspender, the combina tion with a garment, of an apparel-supporting strap secured to said garment at a point removed from the edge thereof and having a free end overlapping the other portion of the strap, a member attached to the free end of said strap for adjustment along said other portion of the strap on the outside of said garment, and a loop secured to said garment adjacent the edge thereof and overlying the free end of said strap for preventing adjustment of said adjustable member beyond the edge of said garment.

8. In an apparel suspender, the combination with a garment of an apparel-supporting strap secured to said garment at a point removed from the edge thereof and having a free end adapted to carry an apparel-attaching means beyond said edge of the garment, and means adjacent said edge for restraining said strap against bulging but permitting said strap to stretch in use substantially throughout its length. 7
