Description

July 23, 1929. R. NlGRlN DRAWING FRAME Filed June 19. 192s JWM f Patented July 23, 1929.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
TEXTIEL MAATSCHAPPIJ EN MAUTNER N. V. 0F
COMPANY 0F THE NETHERLANDS.
ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS, A
DRAWING FRAME.
Application filed June 19,1928, Serial No. 286,510, and in Czechoslovakia June 27, 1927.
This invention relates to a drawing frame for spinning machines which differs from known drawing frames by singleor double-sided roving condensers which rest loosely on the upper rollers, these condenser-s preferably not having driving means, but being provided free to slide to and fro on the roller with the roving passing through the condenser.
The object of this roving condenser is not only to condense the libres ot the prcliminarily drawn roving but also to keep the rollers clean and thereby prevent the roving from adhering to the small rollers.
In the drawing:
lligure l shows by way of example a oonstruction of a drawing traine in side elevation, whilst Figure 2 shows in perspective the arrangement of the roving condenser, and
Figures 3 and Il illustrate in perspective the condenser in two constructions.
.lt is assumed as known that the drawing 7 'trame is constituted by lluted cylinders or rollers l, 2, 3, and each ot which cooperates with a top roller G, i', 8, i) and l0.
rlhe roving' is introduced (single or doubled) to the feed roller 5 and transmitted by the latter between the cylinders et and 9 to the cylinders 3 and 8. lhe roving which is partly preliminarily drawn is transmitted hy the cylinder 3 to the pair or" rollers 2, 7. From the pair of rollers 2, 7 the roving passes between the rollersl, 6, starting from which the twisting of the inely drawn roving for the purpose ot forming yarn is efected by the spindle in the usuel manner.
The weighting of the two top rollers 6 and 8 is ell'ected hy means ol a joint saddle 15, the hook 14 oit' which is leent out rearwardly.
Aocordino' to the invention, the roving condensers l2 (Figures l and 2) overlap the rollers and are constituted by an are shaped rider, the arc of which is adapted to the diameter of the upper roller. According to Figures 2 and 3, the arc is provided at one side with extensions 16 which leave between them a slot 17 which is widened out into a circle at its end 18. A handle 19 is preferably stamped out in the are of the condenser by means of which the condenser may be introduced quite simply into the drawing frame and removed from the saine.
ln the construction shown roving condenser is provided with extensions 16, lo at both sides of the arc.
'lhrse roving condensers lie loosely on the upper roller, they are not driven and are not held. in any other way on the rollers. .lhc roving condensers only follow the lateral movement ol the roving which is given its n'iovement in a known manner by a guide lil. 'lhe roving condensers are chiefly intended i'or condensing rovings which are already preliminarily drawn and at the saine time they lreepfthe roller clean, owing to which, more particularly on rollers of small diameter, adherence of the roving, which is exceedingly injurious, is avoided.
l claim:
l. ln a drawing mechanism the combination with a pair ot' cooperating upper and lower rollers through the nip of which a roving may pass of a hook-shaped plate loosely hanging upon the upper roller and having a slot in its depending portion through which the roving may pass to the nip ot the rollers.
2. ln a drawing mechanism the combination with a pair of upper a'nd lower rollers through the nip ot' which two spaced rovings may pass of a pair of hook-shaped plates hanging upon the upper rollers, the two hook-shaped plates each having a slot in its depending portion through which a roving may pass to the nip of the rollers.
3. ln a drawing mechanism, the combination with a pair of upper and lower rollers through the nip of which a roving may pass ot an inverted U-shaped plate loosely hangin Figure 4, tho
ing on the upper roll, the depending portions of the said plate each having a slot therein, through which slots the roving may pass to and away from the nip of the rollers.
4. In a drawing mechanism the combination with a pair of upper and lower rollers through the nip of which a roving may pass, ot' a pair of inverted U-shaped plates, each of the said plates hanging on the upper roll, each o't' the depending portions of both said plates having a slot through which slots rovings may pass to and out of the nip of the rollers. f
5. For use in a drawing mechanism comprisinp; a pair of drawing rollers, a metal plate bent to a U-shape to hang freely upon plate aving one end bent to form a hook the upper roller the ends of the plate being to hang freely upon the u per roller, the straight and provided with inwardly ex- 10 other end being straight an provided with tending slot-s. 5 a slot extending inwardly from the said end. In testimony whereof I have Signed my 6. For use in a drawing mechanism eomname to this specification. prising a pair of drawing rollers, a metal RUDOLF NIGRlN
