This im'ention relates to improvements in wall tables.

Objects of the invention are to provide a device of this kind which is simple in construction, easy to install and to use, and which occupies relatively small space when collapsed. Some of the more specific purposes of the invention are to provide a wall table which is rugged and serviceable for general uses; practicable to handle in merchandising, andwhich is economical of manufacture, and not liable to become impaired or to get out of Order.

-The objects of my. invention are accom plished, and the advantages for which it is intended, are attained, by the new construction, combination and arrangement of parts described in the following specification, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings. The invention is defined in the appended claims.

The several parts of the invention are identified by suitable characters applied to them I in the different views in the drawings,--in which:

My invention contemplates the providing of a back plate or board of suitable length and thickness and of neat appearance, adapted to be secured to a wall or to any other kind of support or object, a table top, hinge connec- X tions between the table top and the back plate, the axes of such hinge connections being at a predetermined distance from the face of the back plate, a support bracket hinged on the underside of the table top at an angle to and at a dlstance fromthe axes of said hinge connections not less than the thickness of the support'bracket, and an abutment element on the face of the back plate to be engaged by the vertical leg of said support bracket when the table top is in the extended position.

The table top, back plate, and bracket may be made of pressed metal or of wood, preferably the latter, and the dimensions and general formation of these parts may be varied in accordance witlrsuoh special uses for which the table may be intended. In the present embodiment, the invention is shown in the torm and size which is suitable for general use in the household, work shop or office, the wooden back plate A being about thirty fourinches in length. A practicable form of hinge connection between the back plate and table top, may consist of wooden studs or blocks B and B disposed at spaced positions on the frontal face of said back plate and which may be secured by any suitable means, such as the 7 bolts C. A hole D through each of the studs and the back plate, constitute suitable openings through which lag screws 1 are passed and screwed to the wall or other object or support 2. It is obvlousthat when the table top is at the extended position, the tongue and groove will have made close inter-engagement, thus rendering impossible any strains at the hinges when the table top will be under load. The table top E which may be made of poplar, fir, birch, or any kind of stout wood, and which is about thirty six inches in length, is provided with a, longitudinal groove E near its rear edge, and which said groove registers with and snugly engages the tongue A of the back plate, when the table top is moved to the extended position. My improved collapsible tableis secured to the wall or other solid-support, by inserting and securing the lag screws 1 thereby holding and securing the back plate rigidlyv atthe desired location and height. The several parts of the invention are, so constructed, combinedand arranged, that in the folded or collapsed status, as shown in F iguresj5and 6, the device complete, occupied relatively; a
