TOO'IHBRUSH HOLDER Filmed March 4. 192s li il i i l d Ix l.' l l` El l INVENTOR MfG/f G. SI1/ak.
BY y ATTORNEY A barren STATESPATENT OFI-lcs Y `AN'ILN G. SULAK, OF SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.
TOOTHBRUSI-IHHOLDER.
r.f ipplieation*filed March 4, 1926. Serial No. 92,127;
This invention relates to improvements in 'ventilated toothbrush-holders, lia-ving more particular reference to improvements in the .toothbrush-recoptacle and holder disclosed and claimed. in my United Statesv Letters Patent, No. 1,375,865; issued April 26, 192i., and the primary aim of thepresent invention is the provision of a ventilated. toothbrush-holder readily engageable within and detachable from a'resilient wall bracket and wherein the functional end of a tooth brush is readily insertible and restrainingly engaged for support thereby.
Contemplated byV this invention is the provision of va ventilated toothbrush-holder and correlated resilient wall-bracket therefor-'embodying improvements directed particularly to the novel method and means of detachably engaging and supporting the holder upon bracket; inmeans for preventing axial dislodgment of the holder upon or yfrom the bracket; and in means for ventilating the holder, all of which are important objects of my invention and are` to be correlated in the broad aim of enhancing the eiiiciency of the device for general use.
The above and additional objects which will hereinafter be more spccilically treated, are attained by such means as are shown in the accompanying*drawing, described in the following `speciiication and then more clearly pointed out in the claim, which is ap-` pended hereto and forms cation.
lilith reference to the drawings, wherein is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, and throughout the several. views of which like characters of reference designate similar parts:
Figure 1 a front elevation of the detachable toothbrush-holdery and correlated wallbracket thereof comprehended by my present invention illustrating a toothbrush supported therein;
Fig. 2 .is a vertical medial transverse section of the same;
Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section thereof takenthrough 3 3 of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4lis a horizontal section taken through 4l-l' of Fig. 2;
Fig.y 5 is a vertical transversel section taken through 5 5 of Fig. 3; i
Fig. 6 is a side elevationr of the toothbrush-holder removed from the correlated Wall-bracketthereof; and
part of this appli- Fig. 7 is a vertical` transverse section taken through 7--7 of Fig. 1.
The numeral 8 designates a wall-bracket iixedly` securedV to a wall 9 by a screw 10 with a vertically disposed cylindrical tooth-A having resilientV members 14, of substan-` tially reduced width,` lie/ned at and extending forwardly and perpendicularly from the side edges thereof, said members being s unmetrically flexed in convergent relation, asiat 15, andy similarly iiexed in divergent relation,y as at 1G, and having the outer resilient terminals 17 thereof shaped in such a manner to serve and function eonjointly y as a substantially semi-circular resilient seat, Vwherein the cylindrical 'toothbrushholder 11 is restrainingly or releasably engaged and supported.- l
The cylindrical toothbrush-holder 11 may be fabricated from any suitable transparent material, but, in the present instance the same is preferably made of glass with an eX- teriorly grooved constricted neck portion 18 formed upon the lower end thereof having an axially disposed opening or mouth 19 extending therethrough, whereby the functional or bristle end 2O of the toothbrush 12 is readily inserted within and removed from the correlated holder 11 thereof. The functional end 2() of the toothbrush 12 is restrainingly and releasably engaged or supported within the holder 11 by the lower bristles of the same normally abutting or resting upon an annular shoulder 21 formed within said holder 11 by the constricted neck portion 18 thereof. The holder 11 is provided at the upper end with an enclosing concave-convex upper wall 22 and adjacent said upper end' is also provided with an elongated rectangular Ventilating opening 23 formed in the cylindrical walls thereof,
which in conjunction with the opening 19 permits free and constant circulation of air through the holder 11, to thereby preserve the toothbrush 12 in a sanitary condition and prevent the same from becoming moldy or sour.
As hereinbefore stated the cylindrioal toothbrush-holder ll is restrainingly yor releasably engaged Within the substantially semi-circular resilient seat formed by the complemental resilient terminals 17 and is maintained and retained against axial dislodgement therefrom or movement therein by peripheral ribs or ridges 2l formed in spaced parallel relation upon the exterior Walls of said holder, substantially midway the length thereof, Which normally abut the upper and lower edges of said terminals 17, when the holder ll is interposed therebetween, shown more clearly in Fig. 5. Manifest-ly, therefore, While the holder ll may be rapidly and readily removed from the correlated Wall-bracket 8 thereof for cleaning, or to be utilized as a protccter for the toothbrush when travelling' and may be similarly replaced thereon upon comple tion of same, the peripheral ribs 2a will prevent upward axial movement of said holder upon said bracket during the insertion of the functional end of the' toothbrush l2 within the holder and similarly will prevent downward axial movement of the holder when the toothbrush is Withdrawn there from.
lt will be obvious and apparent from the foregoing that the device of the invention is extremely simple, inexpensive and durable in construction, sanitary in use and permits of the rapid and ready drying` of the correlated toothbrush thereof afl'ter use, to thereby maintain and preserve the same in proper condition.
1While I have herein shown and described i parting` from the invention, or the benefits derivable therefrom. l also desire to have it understood that certain features of the invention herein disclosed may be employed in other combinations than those herein shown.
Having thus fully described my invention, what l claim new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is y A ventilated toothbrush holder comprising a cylindrical receptacle capableof being detachably connected to a suitable support, said receptacle having an interiorly and annularly shouldered open end and an elongated rectangular Ventilating opening in its cylindrical Walls adjacent its opposite end,r a concave-convex Wall closing` said opposite end, and a series of relatively short support engaging ribs circumferentially disposedv in spaced parallel relation upon diametrically opposite sides of the periphery of said rcceptacle substantially midvvays its length.

ANTON Gr. SULAK.
