My invention consists in new and useful improvements in gas burners of the type adapted to be used in boilers, industrial furnaces and the like, and has for its object to provide a burner simple and durable in construction, easy to install, arid safe and venien-t to operate. v
Another object of my invention is to provide a burner economical in fuel consumption,
and one which, due to my particular arrangement, will not pulsate, blow out nor back tire.
A still further object of my invention is the quick and thorough mixing of air and gas at a point close to, but not in the burner.
\Vith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my inventionv consists in the novel features herein set" forth, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings, 1 represents an air tube or cylinder, open at each end, and preferably composed of cast iron. VVithinthe tube 1, and near one end thereof, I provide a transversely extending yoke 2, supporting centrally thereof a cylindrical collar 3, .apertured to receive a set screw 4 for the urpo'se hereinafter set forth.

The collar 8 is apertured and threaded to receive an adj usting'and locking screw 9, which, for convenience, extends beyond the circum ference of said disk 7 and cylinder 1, being bent over to form a handleat its free end.
The use and operation of my improved gas burner are as follows;

Assuming that the parts of the burner are assembled and the device mounted in thewall of a furnace or the like, and the outer end of the pipe 5 connected to a source of gas supply, the disk 7 is adjusted on the pipe 5 to the desired position, to allow the proper volume of air to be sucked into the tube or cylinder 1 at the intake end, and the screw 9 isthen tightened to secure the disk 7 in place. It will thus be seen that as the gas is discharged from the aperturesin thegas distributor 6, it will be thoroughly mixed with the air sucked into the cylinder 1 through the space between said cylinder and the disk 7, and due to the angularly disposed apertures in saiddistributor 6, "said mixture will take place at a point close to, but not inthe cylinder 1,,whereby backfiring is prevented if the flame is turned low,
and the flame cannot be jerked out due to sudden changes in either draft or gas pres- 7 sure.
