SEWING CABINET.
Application led October .7, 1927. Serial So. 224,623.
The inventionaimsto provide a simple, compact and very desirable sewing-cabinet which may be kused to contain all necessary equipment for hand sewing, novel provision being made for supporting a plurality of spools of thread so that any desired threa-d is readily accessible for use.
lith the foregoing in view, the inventlon resides inthe novel subject matterv hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing. y Y, I I
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showlng the doors of the cabinet closed.
Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section on line 2-'2 of Fig. 1. y'
Fig. 3 is a perspective View showing the cabinet doors opened.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section on line 4 4 Vof Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the manner of releasably support` ing one end ofthe pins which carry the spools of thread.Y
In the drawings above briefly described, the numeral 6 designates a` preferably 'shallow containerk divided by a longitudinal partition 7, into a pairof compartments 8 for sewing equipment, said compartments being provided with hinged doors 9 at their topsand containing any desired racks or the like 10 for holding shears, needles, thimbles, etc.
Four posts 11 are secured to and rise from the partition 7, said posts being spaced apart longitudinally of the device. The two innermost posts are connected at their upper ends by a carrying handle 12 and novel provision is made between these inner posts and the outer posts, for supporting a plurality of spools of thread 13. The supporting means for all spools is identica-l and may be duplicated at any desired number of places, and
a description of the supporting means for one spool will therefore suffice.
14 denotes la pin having an eye 15 at one end inter-engaged with another eye 16 carried by the inner side of one of the posts 11, said eye 16 being preferably an ordinary screw leye threaded into the post. 17 denotes a U-shaped support for the other end of the pin 14, said support being preferably formed from another screw eye threaded into `the inner side of one of the posts 11, the eye proper being bent flat againstthis post and opened to providethe desired U-shaped formation,
into and from which the free end of the pin,
14 may be readily moved. By disengaging this end of the pin 14 from the support 17 a spool 13 may be easily applied to or removed from said pin, as occasion may demand.
Preferably, the pests 11 aredisposed in pairs, one pair being near one end of the base or receptacle 6, while the other pair is near the other end thereof. The posts of these ypairs needv be spaced only sutliciently to receive the spools 13 and their 'supporting means, but the innermost posts vof the two pairs are preferably spaced further apart in order that the handle 12 may be of greater length than would Otherwise be possible.
It will be seen from the foregoing that I have provided a very simple and inexpensive sewing cabinet, yet one which will be very eonvenient,'will permit'quick location of any sewing equipment necessarygwill always hold spools of thread at lreadily accessible positions, will easily lpermit unwinding of any desired length of thread, and will readily permit empty spools to be removed and new ones to be substituted.
' Such desirable resultsfhave been obtainedv from the details disclosed that they are preferably followed. However, within the scope of the invention as claimed, variations may be made.
I claim:
1. A sewing cabinet comprising a receptaele for sewing equipment, four posts se- Vcured to'and rising from a rigid part of said receptacle, a carrying handle extending between and lconnected with 4the innermost of said posts, and spool-supporting means between and supported by said innermost and
