TAILORS' PIN Filed June 30; 1928 BY p I 1 I I A ORNEY which pr Patented May 14, 1929.
PATENT OFFICE.
PIETRO 'IORELLI, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNEGTICUT.
TAILOR/S PIN.
Application filed June 30,
My invention relates to a new and improved tailors pin, designed and constructed with the object, among other things, oi producing a pin for tailors testing Work that may be quickly applied without diserranging the cloth, will not injure the fingers, and can be manufactured and sold at the mininnnn cost.
To these, and other ends, my invention consists in the tailors pin, having such details of construction as are hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings, in which like numerals of reference designate like parts in the several figures;
gure 1 is a front view of my improved P Fi ure 2 is a side view thereof; and
.Figure 3 is a view illustrating the pin being applied to a piece of cloth.
'llns pin is constructed with a leg 1119,111- ber 10, having a pointed end 11 and slightly curved lengthwise, a ,ElIHClG bar 12 substan tial y parallel with the leg member but much shorter in length terminating at one end in n linger loop 13, and connected at the opposite end with the leg member 10 by the head portion 1 This entire pin made of a single piece of wire and is placed in the cloth by grasping the linger loop 13 between the thumb and second. linger to guide and weave the leg; ineuiber therethrough, the operation bein assi. ed by the first linger, against the head portion ll.
In Figure 3 I have illustrated the relative position. of the lingers just described. With the common type oil pin the body thereof is straight and has a comparatively small head 1928. Serial No. 289,492.
upon the end thereof, is dillicult to insert on account of the straight body, and the size of the head is such that before many pins are inserted the end of the finger becomes tender and sore. With this pin the curved leg readily enters the cloth, designated 15, and it is applied with great ease and without liability of injury to the lingers because the pressure is applied to a head of very large area.
The head portion 14 also serves as a stop of substantial size to prevent the cloth being: damaged by too great pressure upon the pin after it has been projected into the cloth its full length.
Having described my invention, what I claim new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A pin constructed of a single piece of Wire, having a curved leg pointed at one end; a guide bar substantially parallel with and joined to the leg b' an intermediate head portion upon one siue thereof that lies at substantially a right angle to the leg and guide bar; and a linger loop upon the end of the guide bar.
2. A pin constructed of a single piece of Wire, having acurved leg pointed at one end; a guide bar substantially parallel with and shorter than the leg member; a. linger loop at one end. of the guide bar; and a head portion connecting the leg and guide bar, the head portion being at substantially a right angle thereto and projecting laterally upon one side thereof.
In testimony whereof, I have hereuntoa'llixed my signature.
PIETRO TORELLI.
