UNITED STATES AARON NAI'MARK, OF FREEPORT, NEW YORK.
ADVERTISING DEVICE.
Application filed May 21,
The invention relates in general to advertising devices, and more particularly, to a combination display package and placard.
It is not always possible for a merchant to display all of his merchandise on counters or in show windows where they can be easily seen. One class of merchandise which cannot be shown and advertised in this way is that which spoils easily, such as butter, which must be kept in a refrigerator. It is desirable, therefore, that advertising devices made up in the form of a box of the particular merchandise be used in their stead.
According to the invention a particularly useful, inexpensive and attractive advertising device is provided, comprising a unitary cut out made up of a body having parts simulating the walls of a box with an advertising placard attached thereto.
The invention also consists in certain new and original features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter set forth and claimed.
Although the novel features which are believed to be'characteristic of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto, the invention itself, as to its objects and advantages, the mode of its operation and the manner of its organization may be better understood by referring to the following description'taken in connection with the accompanying drawings form ing a part thereof, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective of the advertising device;
Fig. 2 represents a blank from which the device is made, the heavy lines representing cuts and the dotted lines creases; and
Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In the following description and in the claims parts will be identified by specific names for convenience, but they are intended to be as generic in their application to similar parts as the art will permit.
Like reference characters denote like parts in the several figures of the drawings.
In the drawings accompanying and forming part of this specification, a practical commercial embodiment of the invention is shown, but as such illustration is primarily for purposes of disclosure, it will be understood that the structure may be modified in various respects without departure from the broad spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter defined and claimed.
Referring now to the drawings, the device 1928. Serial N... 279,257.-
comprises a unitary cut out made from relatively stiff paper board or some analogous material cut in the, blank shown in Fig. 2. The device is made up of a front wall 1 having side walls 2 and 3 secured thereto. The front wall 1 is provided with a flap 4 adapted to be folded back against the front wall. This flap has attached thereto a plate or placard 5 having side ears 6 and 7 adapted to frictionally engage the side walls 2 and 3.
The side walls 2 and 3 are provided with flaps 8 and 9 adapted to be placed under the top 10 attached to the front wall 1. The top 10 is provided with a. flap 11 folding under the flaps 8 and 9, this flap 11 frictionally engaging the side walls 2 and 3 to hold the body in assembled relation.
The portions of the front and side walls above the placard are printed or otherwise marked to simulate the package of goods the device is to advertise. The placard ma be used as an advertising placard and may iave on it advertising material which is not on the box, such as talking points or other matter calling the product to the attention of the public.
Thus a unitary advertising device has been provided including a part simulating a box of merchandise and a placard advertising the merchandise. The device is relatively inexpensive to make, easy to set up, presents an attractive and striking appearance and is very useful in displaying and calling attention to products which cannot be conspicuously placed due to their nature or for other reasons. 1
While certain novel features of the invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. An advertising device comprising a body having a front wall and side Walls and a top wall attached thereto, said front wall havin a flap folded back against the lower part 0 said front wall, said flap having a placard plate attached. thereto, said plate having side ears frictionally engaging said side walls, said plate inclining to the support on which said body rests.
2. An advertising device comprising a body having a front Wall and side Walls atbent inwardly, said front wall having a top, tached thereto, said front Wall having a flap said top having a flap bent under said side 10 folded back against the lower part of said Wall flaps and engaged between said side front Wall, said flap having a placard plate Walls.
5 attached thereto, said plate having side ears In testimony whereof I have hereunto set frictionally engaging said side Walls, said my hand plate inclining to the support on Which said body rests, said side Walls having top flaps AARON NAIMARK.
