Description

D. T. VINE & T. J'. SCHULER.
TICKET-CASE. I
Patented Nov.1 6,1 875.

N PEIERS, PHOTO-L THOGRAPHER WASHINGTON o C UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID T. VINE. AND THEODORE J. SCHULER, OF FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TICKET-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,] 33, dated November 16, 1875; application filed October 4, 1875.
making a part of this specification.
The nature of our inventionconsists in the construction and arrangement of a label-case for druggists, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in" the art to which our invention appertains to make and use the same, we will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of our labelcase, and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section of the same.
A represents the base of the label-case, in which is a drawer, B, and on top of the base is secured a back, 0, with narrow side strips D D, fastened to the edges thereof, said, back and side strips supporting a top, E, which may be made ornamental or plain, as desired. To the front edge of each of the side strips 1), is hinged a frame or case, G, divided into a number of small boxes or compartments, having slightly-inclined bottoms, as shown particularly in Fig. 2. These cases, when closed together, fill the space between the base A and top E, and are held by means of a suitable spring-catch, a. The various chambers or compartments are filled with their respective labels, and on top of each pile of labels is 'placed a wedge-shaped weight, H. Under each chamber is an aperture, b, extending through the front of the case and the bottom of the chamber, and immediately over the bottom of each chamber is a narrow slit, 2', in the front of the case. By, therefore, inserting a finger through the aperture b, the bottom label in the chamber immediately above it can be drawn out through the slit 4?, the weight H always holding the labels down on the bottom of the chamber. Over each aperture b on the front of the case are pasted, or otherwise affixed, the names of the label contained in the chamber above it. b With this invention it is almost an impossibility to affix wrong labels, as is now often the case in using the ordinary 1abel-drawer,because, in moving the drawer out and in, the labels are liable to get misplaced.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters. Patent, is
1. The hinged cases GG, dividedinto smaller chambers or compartments, and provided with the apertures b and slits i, as and for the purposes herein' set forth.
2. The combination of the base A, frame O D E, hinged cases G G, divided into smaller compartments, and provided with apertures b and slits i, the spring-catch a, and weights H,
substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing we have hereunto set our hands this 18th day of September, 1875.
