, ment, which may be manufactured at a low cost and yet prove thoroughly' eliicientand reliable in operation and strong and -durable in construction.
A still further very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a structurevof this nature, which is not likely to easily become out of order, may be readily handled without much effort and is otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereg stantially on the line 3 8 of Figure 1.
Figure l is a detail plan view of the clippers.
gears.
Figure 6 is a detail perspective view of a yoke on said gear, and
Figure 7 is a 'detail perspective view of the drive shaft. y n
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes the casing which has mounted therein an electric motor 6, the shaft of which continues into a drive shaft 7, which is journaled through an opening 8 at one end of the casing and merges into a flat enlargement 9, the intermediate portion 10 of whichis narrowed gradually toward the body of the shaft7, as will be apparent from an inspection of Figure l. A
plate l1 is` riveted or otherwise secured as at Figure 5 is a detail plan view of one of the l2 to the casing and extends forwardly therefrom and is inclined upwardly atits extremity las at la. A. clipper guard l5 is iixed'to the portion 14, and slidably supports a cutter' member i6, which has arecess 17 at one edge thereof for receiving one en-d of a lever 18, which is rockably supported on a pin 19. rlhe other endslides in a yoke 2O,v
which has a stem 2l 'rotatable in an off-center opening in a bevelled gear 23. This bevelled gear 2 3 is journaled for rotation-above the plate ll. A frame F comprises a pairof spaced parallel plates 24, with openings 25, these plates being connected by a curved intermediate portion 26. A gear 27 ofthe bev-v elled type has a slot for' receiving the flat end 9 of the shaft 7 to slide thereon and is disposed between the plates 24 to be shifted by the frame F in and out of mesh with the gear 23. `A plate 29 extends from the top of the casing-J5 forwardly and is slotted, as-at 30, to receive a bolt 31, from the intermediate portion 26 and a nut 32 is on the bolt, so that the frameF may be heldin dierent positions. rlflie plate 29 merges into an inclined portion $4-, which has a pressure bar 35 at the extremity thereof actuated by a key pressurescrew 36. v
A. pair of spring loops 38 and 39 are mounted in spaced relation on the plate l1.
When the structure is to be used for clip-V ping hair, the parts are disposed as is shown in Figure 2, and the use thereof will be quite apparent. Now to use the structure as a vibrator, the frame F is shifted rearwardly until the gear is disposed over the narrow portion 10 of the flat shaft will be seenthat the gear 27 will wobble considerably when the shaft 7 isin rotation, thus causing a vibration of the whole structure.
portion 9, whereby it f The operator may puthis hand through the spring loop 89 and two lingers through thej loop 38 and thenv by rubbing the other `fin'` l `gers of the hand on the head or face ofthe customer, the desired vibration will be set up.
.It is thoughtthat the construction, operation and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent without a more detailed'descriptionthereof. 'lt will be seen that the device is exceedingly simple and above description.` It will beapparent that Changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit or scope ofthe invention as here` nafte'r Claimed or saerieing' any of its advantages,
Having thus described my invention,` what Iolaimasnewis:
A vibrator struotureof the olass described i oomprisinga motor, a Vshaft operatively associated with the motorv and inerginagginto `a flattened portion, the intermediate part of `which is narrowed7 an element having a slot forreoeivingthe flattened portion so that the said element may be disposed either at the narrow portion or the Wide portion thereof and means for shifting the element.
u In testimony whereof I aix my signature. Y
