4 Claims. fl

This presentinvention relates generally lto attachments .for portable electricvibrating motors andmore particularly to means" orinterchangeably attaching an electric razor, manicuring implement or massaging devices -to theI vibrating arm of the motor.

A further object of theinvention is to provide a head for the motoreasing and by means-of which the several attachments maybe easily and quickly placed in `position' in operative engagement with the vibrating arm of 4the motor.

A still further-object isthe provision of an apparatus `of thisy character of simple and practicalconstruction-'which is eicient and `reliable in operation; relatively inexpensive vto Y manufacture and otherwise well adapted-for thev purposes for which lthesameis intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the: details of construction andoperation as more fully hereinafter describedand claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof,wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 isla side'V elevational Viewof a portable electric vibrating motor withpartg broken away and shown in section and-showing one of the massage attachments `mountedthereon;

FiguresZ, 3 and lA areY perspective views illustrating modified massage attachments;

Figure 6 is a perspective view of the le` attachment;

Figure 'l' is an enlarged fragmentary side elevational View with parts broken away and shown in section and showing a razor attachment connected to the vibrating .arm of the motor, and

Figure 8 is a perspective view of the electric razor attachment.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, Wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, the

numeral 5 designates the casing of a portable vibrating type oi electric motor which is well known in the art for operating electric razors and the like. The motor includes a vibrating arm 5 which extends outwardly at one end of the casing and through a head 'I recessed in the outer end of the casing and secured thereto by bolts or similar fasteners 8. The vibrating arm I5 is formed with a reduced outer end 9 and a threaded portion I 0 inwardly of its reduced stem S. It will be understood that the arm 6 is free to v2. vibrate in the outer end of casing 5 and head 1.

' Massage cups or heads of rubber or other suitable material and'of a 'desired shape such as shown at I l, I2 or 'i3 in Figures 2', 3 and 4, respectively, ofthe drawings,A are interchangeably connectedto Vthe vvibrator arme by means of an internally threaded socket I4 at the inner end of the massage device for'threaded engagement with the threaded portion `I'il of the arm.

The outer end of head 'I is alsofforined with a pair of recesses I5 positioned at diametrically opposite sides of the arm 6' for interchangeably mounting a manicure attachment shown'generally at I6 in' Figures 5 andS-oi'fthevdrawings to the-.head or for interchangeably mounting an electric razor Vattachrnent shown generally at 'I inlFigures 7 andS to the head. *The manicure attachment I6 includes a pair of legs I3 vinserted in the Vrespective recessesy l5-off the head, each leg having an opening I9 adjacent -its'irmer end engagedby one end of a-locking dog or catch 20 pivoted intermediate vits ,ends 0n a pin` 2| at the outer edge of the headand providing a coil spring .22 behind the other endof fthe kcatch tovholdnthe catch in locking engagement with the legs I8`.

A rod 23 connects the outer` endsof. the legs i8 and projects laterally at` .ene side .thereof and a second rod 2liV is securedin spaced parallel. relation to rod. 2li-by, cross ybars orspacers,` 2.5. The cross barsv 25 aresuitablyl secured tothe sides of ythe rods. 2.5 and `2li and include-'atleast one inner and outer cross bars 25 andfZ'L- respectively, secured toone` side :of Vtherodsv 23; and: Zltandan intermediate cross .han Zit .which isdsecuredwto an opposite side of the rods. The cross bars form guides for a nail le 29 which is positioned between the rods 23 and 29 and slidably held in position by the cross bars 26, 21 and 28 which serve as guides for the nail le.

Aligned openings 36 are formed adjacent the outer ends of legs I8 in which the inner end 3| of the nail file is slidably received in a position transversely of the outer end of head I and the inner edge portion of the end 3| of the nail file is formed with .a notch 32 for engagement by the reduced end portion Si of the vibrating arm 6.

A plate 33 is suitably secured to the outer end of nail file 29 with the ends of the plate rolled te form guide sleeves 34 which are slidably received on the outer ends of rods 23 and 24,

In the operation of this form of the attachment and with the legs I8 secured in the recesses I5 of the head 'I and the outer reduced end 9 of vibrating arm 6 engaged in notch 32 of the 3 nail le, the lle will be reciprccated to thus le the nail of a person held against the same;

The electric razor attachment shown at I1 in Figures '7 and 8 of the drawings also includes a pair of legs 35 for insertion in the recesses I5 of the head 1, each leg also including an opening 36 for locking engagement by the catches 20.

The electric razor attachment is of substantially U-shaped construction and includes a cross bar or head 31 rigidly connecting the outer ends of the legs. A hollow guard 38 is carried at the outer surface of head 31 and in which the blade 39 works, in the usual manner, the guard and blade being of a conventional type of electric razor construction.

The underside of the blade is formed with a socket 40 projecting freely rearwardly through an opening 4I in head 31 for insertion on to the reduced end portion 9 of the vibrating arm, the vibrating arm thus reciprocating the blade in the usual manner.

From the foregoing it will be apparent that either the manicuring attachment I6 or the electric razor attachment Il may be easily and quickly mounted in position in the recesses I of head I and removed therefrom by releasing the catches 20.

When the manicuring or electric razor attachments are not mounted in position on the head 1 any one of the massaging devices II, I2 or I3 may then be attached to the vibrating arm.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
