Another object of the invention resides in forming said calendar so as to include all of the months of a year. I

A still further objectrof the invention resides in employing a portion of a fountain pencap as a drum or holder for the recep tion of a table comprising a rolled sheet. having imprinted thereon the datesof the various months, and in providing a sleeve or sheath encircling the table and having a window therein, said sleeve being adapted to be rotated with respect to the table on the holder to expose thedifierent dates on the outer surface of said table.

A feature of the invention resides in printing the months of a year successively in columnar formation on a long sheet and in rolling said sheet into tubular form with the dates of one or more months exposed on the I outer surface of the roll and in gumming the edges of the rolled sheet to retain the same in cylindrical form.

A further feature resides in dividing saidtableinto sections by means of perforatlons extending across the same between the monthly demarkations thereon so as to permit of detaching the used sections and" exposing the unused sectionsin the course of the year.

With the foregoing and other objectsin view, which will appear in the following description, the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed.

In conjunction with the drum 22 I employ a printed table indicated in its entirety at B. This table is formed from a long strip of paper having printed thereon, in

columnar formation, demarlrations 35 indicating the dates, days, and months of the year, the months being arranged successively along transversely across the strip. Between each monthly division the sheet is perforated along a transverse line 36 to divide the same into a number of sections 37. In preparing the table for application to the cap 14, the sheet is wound or rolled upon a suitable cylindrical mandrel starting with the last month of theyear with the printing thereon on the outer face of the sheet. While so rolled, the edges of the sheet are gummed with a suitable adhesive, so that the sheet when removed from the mandrel forms a roll capable of being slipped over the drum 22 and against theshoulder formed by the flange 33. Said drum may be slightly so that as the rolled table B is applied to he drum, it becomes snugly wedged thereon. V The sleeve 32 is formed with a longitudinal slot 37 which extends transversely. of the strip of paper from which the table B is made, said slot forming as a window in said sleeve, through whicha single row of dates upon the table B may be viewed at each setting of said 7 sleeve. Upon rotating the sleeve 32 relative to the drum 22, successive rows of dates may be exposed enabling the user to view any of the dates on the outer surface of the table B. If desired, the table B may be constructed with two months visible at one time upon the exterior of the rollso that "both the instant and the preceding month may be viewed. At the end of each month the last section of the roll is torn off along a line 36 to expose anothermonth, thereby making the table serve for an entire year.

The invention is highly advantageous in that it provides a simple and convenient calendar in association with the cap, of a fountain pen. The calendar can be incoporated in the pen without materially al tering any important portion thereof and without changing the appearance or disfiguring thepen in any manner. By arthe strip and. the dates extending an entire year may be positioned within the single filling so that the subsequent cap at a months will at all times be available as with the ordinarycalendar, giving the device the maximum degree of utility. The incorporation of the calendar with the cap does not in anyway interfere with the use of the cap in conjunction with'the pen proper, nor inf terfere with the manipulation of the pen by the writer. 7 1

Having described my claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is 1. In combination, the cap of afountain pen having a portion thereof forming a drum-like holder, a tubular table fitting the holder, said holder having a shoulder ad-.

jacent one end thereof, a sl-eeve'revoluble upon said holder and abutting at oneend against said shoulder, said sleeve havinga window adapted to be registered with portions of said table, and a retainer secured to the other end ofsaid holder to keep sleeve in position on the holder;

In combination with the cap of a fountain pen having a drum-like portion at one end thereof of diameter less than said cap proper toform' a shoulder, of a table encircling said drum-like portion, a sleeve revoluble upon said portion and abutting at one end against said shoulder, said'sleeve having a window therein' for registration with a portion of said table, and a retainer fitted to said drum-like portion forming a second shoulder for engagement with the other end of said sleeve to hold the same said against longitudinal movement with respect to said drum-like portion.

In combination with a cap of a fountain pen having a drum-like portion at one end thereof of a diameter less than said cap proper to form a shoulder, a flange formed on said drum-like portion adjacent said shoulder, a sleeve revolublejupon said flange and spaced from said drum-like portion, a flange formed on the sleeve at its opposite end adapted to ride upon said drum-like portion and provide an annular space between said sleeve and drum-like portion, a table disposed Within saidspaoe, said sleeve having a Window therein registering With a portion of said table, a lug extending outwardly from said drum-like portion at one end thereof, and a retainer threaded upon said'lug and forming a stop for depriving said sleeve of longitudinal move- 10 ment.
