BRUSH HOLDER FOR FLOOR POLISHER-S.
Application filed February 12, 1924. Serial No. 692,299.
This invention relates to floor polishing and scrubbing machines such as are shown in my copending applications for patents No. 661,424 filed September 7, 1923; N0.
692,295, filed February 12, 1924, and No.
692,296 filed February 12, 1924; and has special reference to brush holders. therefor.
The principal objects of the invention are to provide new and improved brush holders for the purpose wherein provision is made for quickly and easily changing brushes, polishers and the like, it being understood that the word brush as herein used is intended to cover brushes properly so called, wax distributors, polishing pads or blocks, sanding devices and all other attachment of like general, character.
\Vith the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is a bottom plan View of the holder.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 22 of Figure 1. v
Figure 3 is an enlarged detail section in the line 9-9 of Figure 1. g
In the form herein described the body of the holder comprises an elongated plate 10 having rounded corners.
In the form shown in Figures 1 to 3 there is provided at one end a downwardly extending lug 18 having aninwardly extending portion 19, thus forming an L-shaped structure. At the other end there is secured, by welding, or the like, a downwardly extending case 20 wherein is slidably mounted a bolt 21 having a bevel face 22.
' This bolt is normally pressed in the direction of the lug 18 by a spring 23 and on the outer end of the bolt is secured a thumb piece 24 which is fixedto the outer endof the bolt and bent over the lower end of the case to act as aguide and prevent rotation of the bolt 21.
Inthis form the lug end of the brush is first inserted and the other end simply slid in past the bolt, the bevel bolt permitting this. To withdraw the brushes from this form the thumb piece is drawn back to allow the latch end oi the brush to drop.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described andfor the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the material spirit thereof. Itis not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as withinthe scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is:
1. Arotatable brush holder for floor polproperly come ing lug at one end provided with an inturned extremity, a latch housing depending from the plate at the other end wherein is mounted a latch having a bevel ended spring pressed bolt projecting toward the lug, and a thumb piece for. drawing said latch backward against the spring.
2. A rotatable brush'holder for floor polishers consist-ingot a plate having a depending lug at one end provided with an inturned extremity, a latch housing depending from the plate at the other end wherein is mounted a latch having a bevel ended spring pressed bolt projecting toward the lug, a thumb piece for drawing said latch backward against the spring, and
side flanges depending from the plate'to engage the sides of the brush back andprevent lateral movement of said brush with respect to the plate.
3. A brush holder including a backing plate having a depending lug, a latch housing depending from said plate, and a spring pressed latch carried by said housing in I late means mounted thereon for en a in 7 b b b an end of aabrush; a latch housing carried by said plate at the opposite side thereof, a latch slidebly mounted in the housing for engaging the brush, and a thumb-plate connected with the latch and bent over the end of the housing for moving said latch end for preventing the turning thereof.
6. A brush-holder including a backingplate, a lug mounted thereon for engaging 7 an end of a brush, a latch housing depending from the opposite end of the p']ate,,a 1
said latch and for preventing turning moveinent thereof. V
Intestimony whereof I affix my signature.
LYLE NIGILLIS.
